Does anyone recognize this porcelain doll makers signature?
I found this porcelain doll at an estate sale. Its in really good condition so I do not think it is old. The head, feet and hands are porcelain. It is signed on the back of the neck. Very high on the neck, stamped into the porcelain under glaze is the number 5 or letter S. It is really hard to tell. On the neck stamped into the porcelain under glaze is the word Germany. It is also very hard to make out. Over the word Germany is a small X.
Under that signed into the porcelain is the name GM lano. Next to that is either "78" or "28" or "2B"
Im hoping someone would recognize the GM lano signature. The doll is about 14 inches tall.

·10 months agoHi, I collect antique half dolls and I have seen many antique versions of this doll or similar. I think it’s a doll artists copy, a very good copy. She is lovely. About 15-20 years ago there were a lot of people making copies. I had a doll artists copy want to take molds of mine. I had to say no as it can damage them. There may be someone on these boards that will recognise that signature. But another suggestion is you’re local doll museum or doll club, do a google search. I am in West Australia and we have a ‘childhood museum’, ‘doll museum’ and I have had help from the ‘W.A. Museum’ so make some phone calls or emails or better still visit and ask. Take care.
