I survived Halloween.. BARELY! Now I have a stress fracture in my left foot.
This is me at the end of night one of our haunt, we are open the 30 and 31st...
I managed to get some pretty severe blisters on my right foot from the haunt then woke up yesterday morning and stepped down and put all my weight on left foot which then stress fractured along the outside edge of the arch. I do not have a good foot to stand on now!
I have a walking boot and a knee scooter until the Dr's decide if I need more treatment for the stress fracture.
We did raise $5370. 00 for our local food bank!
Hope you are all doing okay.

·2 years agoHope your stress fracture is healing up well ......... I had another MSI yesterday of my entire back, neck, hips, knees, etc ...
The workers in the Imaging Centers around here have become very very rough .... They get aggravated when seeing 2 workers roll ling me in on a bed ... Hard to explain but they are now younger and in a big hurry .... Takes more time to heal up from the testing than for the damage in the test ... Anyone else experiencing this king of treatment in ... ICU .. "intensive care"
Birds galore

OP2 years ago@whotoldya. I'm healing ok. I do have an appointment with a rheumatologist on December 12th, surprised to get in so quickly.
That's awful that they are not careful with you when transferring you to the MRI machine. Sending you hugs and prayers.

·2 years agoOh, that is terrible. I am glad that the techs in my imaging center are very nice.

·2 years agoOld age is not pretty. I got a compression fracture a few months ago just by lifting a bucket of water that was hardly heavy.
The weather here in PA has been really nice and in the 60's. Until today, when it has been raining heavily and the temps will go down to normal November temps...in the 40's.

OP2 years ago@denise15601 @whotoldya. Sorry to hear that you both deal with compression fractures.
My foot is on the mend. Just using the walking boot now and not the kneeling scooter.
My Dr referred me to a rheumatoid specialist who was supposed to call me.... I guess I'll have to call them.
He wants to see if they think I should start the twice a year injections.
Have either of you had those?
I tried the once a week pill a couple of years ago and it gave me real bad migraine for several days.

·2 years agoI don't have RA, thank goodness. My fracture healed itself. It is still evident on my CT and PET scans, but it doesn't hurt anymore.
I'm glad that you are feeling better!

OP2 years ago@denise15601 mine isn't RA either so kind of unsure about the referral. It's osteoporosis.

·2 years agoOh, so maybe the doctor was talking about bisphosphonates? I have been on them for 24 years...since I was 50. I am currently on Prolia-twice a year injections. Your PCP can give those injections. I have osteopenia.
I did have one injection of Reclast and never again....I had really bad bone pain for several days and lost a lot of hair.

OP2 years ago@denise15601 My old GP had tried me on Boniva and I had headaches and the muscle/ aching bones.
I don't know the name of the twice a year injection he wanted me to do but said it had to be done at an infusion facility so probably the Reclast.
Kind of annoyed he didn't mention the twice a year injection that he could do.

·2 years agoI was on Boniva many years ago. I would ask for Prolia, if I were you. It changed my osteoporosis to osteopenia. It is an injection. I have no side effects from it and I have been on chemo for almost 22 years. So I think that I am a bit delicate. lol.

·2 years agoOMG! What an amazing display! LOL-you really clean up nice....giggle. Your display rivals what our big amusement parks do.
I typed something this morning, but I got an error message. So sorry about your foot and I hope that you heal quickly!

OP2 years ago@denise15601 We are a very basic set up compared to what many of my fellow haunters here in AZ do. Some of their displays are truly amazing. I went to Phoenix with a couple of girl friends a few weeks ago to check some of them out. It's about an 1 1/2 hour drive from Tucson, I had to laugh that it was the first time in about 30 years that I got home at 1am.
I was so happy that the reporter did such a great job and will be using it for advertising for next year. We've never had a news reporter come at night when we were open, only a newspaper photographer that would hang out for hours.

Hope you feel better today

OP2 years ago@whotoldya. Tens is great for my back for the muscle spasms. I had it on all night for our Halloween haunt. I find it works best if I put it on before the spasms start as it helps increase blood flow.
I haven't used Tens on my foot yet. Dr said just ice and keep it immobile and stay off it for now.
I did use tens on my ankle when I broke it in 2015. It helped to reduce the pain and swelling better than ice.
And much better than the torture that PT tried to have me do... put my foot in a bucket of ice water then ran electric current through it...that hurt so much!

·2 years agoOuch ... that sounds like a lot of pain ... You sure are trying your best to remove some of the pain ... Hope things calm down soon ... Your in a good place to write about it ....
I wrote a long message in here to you .... When responding a message came back saying I was about to lose a lot of the message .... When clicking on that it ate the whole message ... It is now in "Baboon Heaven"
Hope things get better real soon ....
