Here's a "bird story" for DWB
@whotoldya Here's a bit of bird excitement we had recently.
A Harris Hawk was peaking in our front window on the 27th
We thought at first that it was just over heated and put water out for it on the porch that it stood in for a long time. We do have a bird bath under our large tree out front too.
Later we discovered it had an injured wing. So we had to capture it and take it a wildlife rescue center across town. I am sure you have a great respect for how dangerous handling a hawk can be! I threw a sheet over it and then picked it up to put it in a box. I was ALMOST quick enough not be injured but I did end up with a very small puncture on my hand and had to have a tetanus shot and antibiotics. Wish I had thought about putting garden gloves on first! I was so in a panic to help the poor thing.
We have a number of Harris Hawk nests in our neighborhood.
Hope you're doing ok.
