·1 month agoThis is definitely from a mold. The hole underneath the tail gives it away; it was either slush cast or (more likely) rotocast so it could be hollow on the inside, therefore lighter.
But let's do some more digging! If you haven't found anything like it, it could be worth something, but no promises. I'm not an appraiser, so this is just based on my knowledge as someone who does sculpt, cast, and paint things as a side hustle.
Frankly I'm more impressed with the paint job than the sculpt. There's paint details even on the underside of the feet, telling me this is either a high quality commercial item, or a very beloved personal project.
I think the thing that would make this valuable would be its age.
Molds have one major downfall; they degrade over time. That means only a certain number of these could've been made before the mold wore down so much that it was more work to clean up the cast than it was to make a new mold.
The thing is, I have no idea how old this is, which would be the main way to determine its worth.
If it's over 30 years, then the original mold and most of the castings are likely destroyed from wear and tear, which means you've got quite the original piece.
But if it's younger than that, well...
It looks to be in really good condition, so I'm inclined to say it's younger, but again, I could be wrong.
As for the casting material...
Is it warm or cool to the touch?
Is it heavy?
Would you be scared to drop this for fear it might break?
How do you think it would break? Would it shatter? Crack? Dent?
What does the wear look like? Look at places that would get bumped; like the soles of the feet, the tail feathers, the beak.

OP1 month agoIt is not that cold to the touch, and if dropped I would say the Neck, Feet and Tail would break off, Not Dent. It has no flaws or dents, and it weights about 3 Lbs.

·1 month agoAll right, that narrows what it's made of down. If it were cold and I'd assume ceramic or porcelain, but since it's warm, it sounds more like it could be cement, waterproofed paper mache (not very likely since it seems heavy for its size), or possibly an outdoor epoxy. A little less pricey in that case.
If I were in the market for something like this, I could see myself paying at least $30. This is, of course, assuming it's not especially rare and could potentially go for more. Again, the impressive paint job weighs more into me saying that than the sculpting; slush or rotocasting those colors into the resin would be a pain with all those gradients (though not impossible, the smooth transitions and sharp details make me think this was at least partially colored after casting), so I'm guessing it was airbrushed, then the details like the eyes, claws, and around the "eye" of the feathers were possibly hand-painted.

·1 month agoMight be a good idea to show the dimensions.
Anything made out of resin is not rare - resin figurines require molds, molds cost quite a bit to make, so to offset the cost of the mold, you make a lot of them until you can't use the mold anymore.
No Jewels either - probably plastic.

OP1 month agoI am sure the jewels are plastic and I am calling it rare because I can not find one like it anywhere - I am a seasoned top-rated seller and I just need help identifying this item. I have used every image search and AI out there! I have viewed thousands of images and no match. I think it is stone resin I am not shore? It is totally unmarked and dimension are 16" L x 8.5" T x 6" wide at the tail. Weight is 2 Lbs. 14.8 Oz. / and is high quality manufactured.

·1 month agoMaking molds for resin figurines is often not very expensive, if you are not planning a long manufacturing run.
Years ago, my wife took a sculpture course and a one day project was preparing a mold for a resin casting and making the first example.
She reproduced a Panama Pacific Exposition souvenir, in a color which made it abundantly clear it was not an original.
