Would these be considered posters?
I have these two possibly posters since the size is not standard for what I have found about lobby cards. These measure 11" x 17". Also they seem to be a limited edition. If any one has any info about these it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

·2 years agoWell, I know 11x17" is "tabloid" size paper. Called ledger, too I think. We used it in bi-fold and saddle stitched collateral media a lot. I don't know anything about movie posters, but I'd be very concerned about the abundance of numerals in all different hands and in different inks. As far as I know this could be some backroom old print quality standards enforcement, but it feels like numbers in a series - trying to "force" the limited-run litho/print numbers idea to add value to something that didn't originally have it, or have what it's now projecting.
Again, cinema is not my area of expertise, but for prints - there's a lot going on. Missing registration marks, differing handwriting and inks (?) pigments used, in a series numbered this way, I'd expect a few penciled marks, or other imprimatur indicating pedigree of some sort.
Any other markings, maybe on the back?

·2 years agoDo a search on eBay for Queen Of Outer Space 11 X 17 and you'll see they average around $12.00 for the same exact copy. These were made in quantity. I didn't search on the other one. Best of luck to you....

·2 years agoDefinitely not lobby cards. Lobby cards are in landscape format and smaller.
I too suspect the are modern reproductions based on the size. 11 x 17 is not a standard movie poster size.
What you think is a number in an edition is probably an identifier. I'd be willing to bet that it is not written in pencil. The first digit is the year.

OP2 years agoThanks you are probably correct. These were given to me 20 years ago from a collector so I thought I should ask to see if they where and if they were of any value. I am guessing not! lol

These may be contemporary reprints.
Check the ads in FILMFAX magazine, and you may find hundreds more similar "vintage" items.

·2 years agoLobby cards are posters or prints specific to the entertainment industry. "Poster" is a general term for paper items that are 11x17 or larger, versus "print" which is typically 8x11 or so. So you have posters that were designed and used as lobby cards.
