Verify wood and artist of this extraordinary turned Vase
I bought this vase at an estate sale, and the tag said this is a aspen burl vase by Jerry Wedekind. I would like to verify the wood species and if this vase with the whitewashed interior is something Jerry Wedekind could have created. Vase in not signed by creator and tag on bottom of vase indicates it was bought from Wild West Designs. I contacted this company and they said they don't stock artist works by Jerry Wedekind.

·8 months agoI'd be skeptical. It looks like Wedekind signs and dates his work like this one here:

Is that label on the bottom hiding anything maybe?

OP8 months agoThank you, that is what I thought, there is no signature or number under the label. I will not be returning to that estate sale in the future.

·8 months agoFirst. It looks to be spalted aspen to me.
Second. Irregardless of the provenience if the price was right I'd still be happy with it. The estate seller(s) may have been going by what they were told by the deceased and possibly not intending to deceive.
I know my father had things that he said were one thing but upon closer inspection after his passing I discovered weren't what he thought they were.
If the price was right you did OK if not............................
