Unusual Hanging Globe or Ball Clock

Question

I came across this clock and thought it was pretty cool. It is a brass ball or globe with a silverplate center band with the Roman numerals I to XII engraved around it. I hung it from the steel band loop at the top and it started ticking. It is quite heavy and well made. The only markings are "MADE IN ENGLAND" on the silverplate numbered band and a serial number on the inside. Does anyone here have an idea of what this type of clock is referred to? I haven't had any luck finding a similar one on line.

"Falling Ball" or gravity clock. Possibly manufactured by Thwaites & Reed. Missing the wood panel seen here and here.
