Steel light circa 1920 survived 1928 hurricane in FLA
I bought this wonderful chandelier a number of years ago. Previous owner said it was an important piece from a salvage after the big 1928 hurricane in Fla. I've been looking and looking and looking and came across what you see in the photo. It appears to be from the Everglades Club in Palm Beach, Fla which was designed by Addison Mizner and was his first first commission that set the style for Palm beach design. Here are two photos.
Keywords are Addison Mizner, Worth Avenue, Mizner Workshops. From what I can make of that first photo there might be at least two fixtures in it. I found newpaper clippings about the hurricane that I will post.

OP3 years agoAlso, the Everglades is a very private club and are reluctant to share details other than what is out there. Nobody I know would be allowed in there! 😎

OP3 years agoSo, my reason for asking is that the lower third of the fixture is missing and I have a metal restorer who is building a replacement and needs to see clearer photos. I can't find them. Any thoughts?

·3 years agoI can see the match between yours and the top of the fixture in the foreground in the second photo .
For clearer photos of the fixtures from the Everglades Club, would the local Palm Beach library be able to help? Just a thought.

OP3 years ago"Unroofed, with many windows broken" is right about where this (these) might have hung. I've looked at many photos of the club but can't figure out what the elevations are as it is a sprawling complex. Was this only the loggia roof or a secondary roof within the structure?

·3 years agoChecking Worldcat.org I see a number of references for the Everglades Club, including photos from LOC, books, etc. where you might find clearer photos of the interior of the Club.
