selling items with a volatile market and 30 day returns
I have recently been offer to be a top seller plus by ebay and have my fees dropped from 13% to 3% by making my listings shipped within 1 business day, which I have no issues doing, but also to allow 30 day returns... with the type of collectibles I primarily sell, sports cards, the market can fluctuate significantly for players pricing within 30 days. Have others had the issue of returns coming back close to the 30 day limit? Is this something I should be concerned with? Please if you have any experience selling items that have this type of fluctuation please let me know of your experience and thoughts on if this is a good idea... I see many top sellers in this space NOT accepting returns more than 3 days after received shipping, so I am on the fence but the extra 10% off fees sounds really nice.

·3 years agoWhether to accept returns in return for a fee reduction is a business decision.
If you are selling items with volatile pricing, that is certainly a negative for accepting returns.
I get few returns, have always gotten very few returns, but when I have to option to sell with no returns other than not as described, I opt for no returns. My preference, I'd rather not get a sale than have after the sale interactions with most buyers.
The 10% reduction in FVF fee is too small to overcome my prejudice.

·3 years agoYou don’t go down to 3% fees. You get a 10 percent discount on your 13% fees. 0.13x0.10=0.013. You’d be at FVF of 11.7%.

Effective today, July 29, 2021, eBay has implemented changes to the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy for trading cards and will limit the window for returns when an item doesn’t match the listing. For listings that do not offer returns, the buyer must request a return within 3 calendar days after delivery. If the seller does offer returns, the buyer must request a return within the seller's return window as stated in the listing.
