Parcel lost during shipping
After a 15-year search, I finally acquired an extremely rare collector's item (value $2001.34), and my legally acquired possession was simply lost during shipping.
eBay doesn't care in the slightest about this incident; they say they can't do anything about it and are issuing me a refund I didn't request. The fact is, they gave the seller the wrong address:Glendale Heights Illinois 60139.So on December 31 it ended up in Illinois(in the hands of a third party shipping company, possibly "Go…o").Then it simply vanished from this planet. The seller and I trusted eBay Global Shipping Program and the latter failed totally!Ebay simply deny any responsibility.I strongly advise every member to contact any seller immediately after a purchase to provide them with the correct address and tell them not to trust eBay's information! This isn't an isolated incident and it's happening more and more often.I’m active on many social platforms and it is possible that the general public will know about the disgraceful practices of that fine company.

·8 months ago@overk57 I want you to pretend for a moment that I hold the title of eBay President. I don't. If I did, what would you like me to do?

OP8 months agoJust return my legally acquired property to me and you can have your refund
(which didn’t ask for) back anytime!

·8 months agoI'm not sure why you keep saying you "legally" acquired it. I would presume no less.
Are you alleging that eBay "stole" your "legally acquired" property?
In all seriousness, you are not going to get it. You will have to keep looking for another. I'm sorry.
There could be a number of reasons to explain what happened. It is possible your country won't allow that item to come into it. It is possible it was lost. It is possible it got damaged. Who knows.
It was not an address problem. If the seller is enrolled in eBay International Shipping and they do not allow international buyers to buy outside that program, then the seller had to ship it there. eBay does provide the international buyer's address, however, sellers cannot ship to that address. In fact, they add a reminder on the order for sellers not to ship to the buyer's physical address.
My advice to you is to move on because there is absolutely no way you will get what you ordered now that you have been refunded.

OP8 months agoI consider that eBay is responsible for the property of their members as long as they oblige people to trust their glorious shipping program. This always worked well time ago and now failures become increasingly numerous; I’ve meanwhile discovered that I’m not the only victim, I’ve just joined the …. queue! I didn’t acquire a baseball cap or a few tennis balls. I’ve been looking for that virtually irreplaceable antique for the last fifteen years and should it take another fifteen years to find the next one I’ll probably not live long enough to get another chance to make a new deal.
I’ve received goods from the US a few hundred times without the least problem and the US have not declared an embargo against Luxembourg recently. So I’ll just move on or should I say I’ll go to h..l !
Don’t worry, I won’t bother you any longer and you don’t have to send me a reply either. Just move on…
I’m very active on many social platforms and rest assured, eBay’s heroic practices will not remain hidden to the rest of this planet’s population.

Your expectations are unreasonable and impractical and not reflected in the laws of any country.
Ebay International Shipping utilizes the services of a major European carrier as well as small carriers. DHL is prominent in the processing of shipments, and it provides freight forwarding and consolidation services in line with industry practices.
It is extremely disturbing when a rare, obscure or unique item is lost, but the only way to avoid any possibility of loss by a carrier is to fly to the location of the seller and pick up the item. You did not do that.
Make sure that your social media campaign makes the role of DHL and any other carrier used by EIS clear to avoid embarrassing yourself.

OP8 months agoDon’t worry: there will be no accusations, inappropriate terminology or curses or whatever; only simple and clear facts will be related. And I’m not the only one doing this, don’t forget. Do you think I should travel about 9100 kilometers or 5600 miles, a journey lasting up to 16 hours to collect my item?! Is this your best advice..,?

·8 months agoMy advice is to accept the reality that no shipping carrier never loses any shipments.
DHL is not my choice of carrier but their overall level of service and that of EIS is quite respectable.
Lost shipments are a risk you take when you deal other than in person.

·8 months agoThey didn't give the seller the wrong address, that is the US hub for International shipping.
It could be that the item wasn't able to be imported to your country.
If you got your refund, that's all you can do.

OP8 months agoI know that it is the US hub for International shipping but that’s the address the seller received, I contacted him and he confirmed this three times!

·8 months agoAre you sure that the Glendale Ill isn't the transfer station for items going overseas? It's only been 3 weeks and often overseas shipping takes weeks.

OP8 months agoIt was seen at Glendale for the last time on December 31. After that it was reported as undeliverable and I got a refund which I didn’t ask for from eBay. I’ve received almost 300 parcels from overseas and 3 weeks has always been a great maximum…
