I knew the artist very well. She was my aunt and was a consummate and prolific artist until she passed away. She lived in Sonora/ Twain-Hart area California
The artist is Pat Frey who lived in Burlingame, CA (although I thought it was Hillsborough...) . my mother and I took art lessons from her in the late 60s/early 70s. I have a watercolor and some sketchings from her--same signature. I can take a picture of my stuff if you like. She had some awards--no longer living now.
Since this thread is well over two years old, the chance of the Original Poster seeing it are slim to none. Click on the OP's user name and send a private message, though, just in case. People here had identified the artist as Pat Frey, and your additional information will be useful to the OP if the painting has not already sold.
