Lalique Find
I had picked this up at a garage sale. It is an amber glass with sterling silver serpents wrapped around it. It does have a sterling hallmark on the bottom along with Lalique on the glass and the sterling rim of the base. I would love to know more about it and its possible value would be nice

·1 year agoI am hoping for you that the glass is marked "R. Lalique" on the bottom. Looks like the metal base prevents viewing the glass bottom from the intended bottom view. But if you take off the lid and view the inside bottom you might see something. Of course since your view would be from the top (instead of the intended bottom view) the text/font would be a mirror/reversed image. Let us know.
I am far from an expert on this type of glass. But seeing this has been a learning experience for me as I try to learn more about your item. As a complete novice going on just what I have learned today then I would say it is from 1920-1924 or around that time. Not even touching value, leaving that to someone much more informed than I on the subject.

·1 year agoThe signature is what concerns me as it seems rather sloppy and unlike the neat cursive I see on other Lalique items. The "L" especially is drawn strangely. But again I am not well versed in this area, so you first want to get it authenticated before doing anything else.

OP1 year agoI had sent the information to Lalique in New Jersey, and they have to send the info to Lalique France to check the paper archives... no response as of yet. Christies auctions house said they can't help me because it's not in their "book". Lalique New Jersey had referred me to an Antique roadshow appraiser for additional help. The lady at Lalique said it is Lalique style and didn't make a lot of this style. I thought I'd keep digging in my heels for all the information I can get and get into a forum.
