Increased Collectible Coin Scams coming to Ebay
The price of silver is rising steeply closing at $ 43.00 per ounce on Friday. The highest silver price on record was about 15 or so years ago at $ 49.00 per ounce. Many collectible US coins had silver content before 1964 and are known to be valuable for their silver. I have observed in the past 24 hours several cases of Sellers (or inactive Sellers who may have had their accounts taken over by others) listing common US coins with no silver content for extremely high prices or even insinuating that their listed coin had silver content when it did not.
PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL IN THE COMING WEEKS AS THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY IS VERY LIKELY TO INCREASE.

·10 months agoCheck out January 1980. Silver went just slightly over $50 an ounce. Within a few months the price crashed to just below $12 an ounce.

·10 months agoI remember it well, stayed down for years. Also 2014 when it went from about $30 to the teens in less than a year. Who can tell what it will do. Almost $46 right now.

·10 months agoI'll never forget the bicentennial quarter listed for 50K, I still get people walking into the shop and asking what I'll pay for them. Now the Jovita Idar quarter is another and someone called me to say they found a roll of state quarters and what would I pay for them..... "How much is my quarter worth?" "If you have 4 I'll give you a buck"

·10 months agoI agree with you. People trying to sell the Jovita Idar quarter as an error coin with "In Cod We Trust" drive me nuts.

·10 months agoCoin scams aren't coming to eBay, they've been here all along. Lots of posts on these forums complaining about them.
That being said I agree with you that with the rise in silver prices it will be even more pervasive.
I don't actively collect coins or paper currency but have some nice examples of both.
I'm very leery of buying any item made of precious metals without firsthand inperson inspection.
Unfortunately there's one born every minute believing that to-good-to-be-true price is a one off and they've scored a deal.
Hopefully your warning will be heeded by someone but................................?
