I would like the help of the e-bay community to identify this object. This item is 3.0” long and 2.75” wide and 1.5” tall. I thought it might be the base for a perfume bottle! Bottom of item has the number 187 and some other stamped lettering I can’t decipher.

I see you have the holder listed for sale. Looks good and great photos but I think instead of calling it a "stand", I would call it a "holder". Also, you need to mention in the description about the impressed "187" and that you cannot read the tiny print impressed underneath the 187. Someone looking at the photos will wonder about that. It is very pretty and I hope it sells quickly for you. BTW, you have some really neat things for sale.

·4 months agoThe semi oval shape surely points to a small bottle (shaped to be conveniently handled) more than a votive candle (typically round not semi oval). And the green appears to be tarnish, copper tarnish to be more precise. I know - not a lot of help but all I can logically offer. And its a start at least.
If it were me trying to do research on this item the first thing I would do is take it to a friendly jeweler and see if they can positively identify what look like small stones/gems. If "faux' stones, no big deal and likely not worth chasing this mystery much further. If real then identification may be financially irrelevant as value would be "in" the stones, and not much gained by determining "what" it is. If a jeweler says something like "I don't know what it is but do you want to sell it to me" then that is a HUGE clue further research might be profitable for you.....My opinions only, worth precisely what you paid for them. NADA.

·4 months agoYou are right about the oval shape not being conducive to a votive candle which would need to be round.
My mistake, I really didn't look at the photo of the bottom of the holder that closely.
Now that I look at it closer, I'm leaning more towards perfume bottle holder. To me, the tarnish looks like chemical reaction that happens when perfume gets on metal. If that is the case, it can usually be cleaned off but the area might be a little darker where the tarnish was.
It's a pretty holder but in the pictures, those do not look like real gemstones to me. They look more like rhinestones or paste and those brownish ones look like faux stones. But it's hard to tell just from photos.

I think you are probably correct in that it is the holder for a perfume bottle or small vase or even a votive candle.
