Help With Wooden (Handcarved?) Owl
Summary: *fortuna* is seeking help to identify a hand-carved wooden owl, assumed to be of German origin, with no match found through Google Image search. They discovered a similar image on a Romanian Facebook page but require further assistance and are unfamiliar with using Facebook as a resource. They are open to suggestions on where else to seek information.
It has been
20 years since I posted on an Ebay board so please be kind! I have no recall about where this was acquired. A friend found one similar image on a Romanian Facebook page. There is no match on Google Image search. I suspect it is German. But I could be wrong. I am slowly taking apart bookcases where it lived. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Or if it inappropriate here, where would I look. I don’t use Facebook. TY

·yesterday at 1:05 PMWelcome back! Cute owl. Those big round eyes and the carved feathers make me think European folk carving too. German Black Forest is a good guess, but since your friend found one on a Romanian page, it might be from Eastern Europe. They made a lot of owls like this. I'd flip it over and look for an old paper label, a stamp, or initials on the bottom, because that could settle it fast.
