Help with Antique Candle Holder
I have a few questions about this candle holder. Does anyone recognize the marks - sterling, maker ? Also, the handle has a tiny square slot and I'm wondering what it would have been used for? And, last, they may be part of the design, but the small circles around the edges, would something have been attached to the piece? TIA for any help : )

That square hole would have held the snuffer.

·10 months agoHi, I can help with the marks. The crescent moon and crown is for Germany and '800' is 80% pure silver (less pure than sterling silver.) The website 925-1000.com is a good resource for sterling marks and it might be able to help you with the other mark, which is a maker's mark. It looks like the round loops are part of the design. Not sure about the square opening. Also really like the naturalistic design of the chamber stick 🙂
