Help with a bronze sculpture
Summary: teresarenee11 is seeking information about a small bird sculpture they believe is by Hubley. They noted that similar sculptures are painted, but theirs seems unpainted. fabrics24 suggested that some sculptures were left unpainted and estimated its value between $65 and $200, highlighting the uniqueness of its bronze casting. teresarenee11 thanked them for their help.
Hello. Was wondering if anyone can help with this small bird sculpture. I believe is is by Hubley. I have seen others that look exactly the same but they are painted. This one looks like it had never been painted. Did they not paint some of them by chance?
Appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks in advance

·5 hours agoPretty little quail! Just a thought: most of Hubley's birds were cast iron, so I'd try a magnet on it. If it sticks, it might be iron that's lost its paint. If it doesn't, it really is bronze, which would make it a bit unusual.

·1 week agoLooks like a quail sculpture! Some of these are unpainted, it looks like.
There's a couple of them going for upwards of $400, but looking at sold comps, I think you're more likely to get $65-$200 for it. Some of them are iron cast, but this one seems pretty unique with the bronze casting, at least on eBay.
