Hand-colored photo tiles?
Good afternoon, citizens. Does anyone have information regarding these 2 items I have? They are vintage or antique. They appear to be hand-colored photographic images on some sort or glass or ceramic tiles. They are 4.25 x 3.25" & the images are on a tile that is white like paper. Google AI does not provide any information that allows me to figure it out. Whether I give a full description or do image searches. On the image with the palm trees, at a certain angle, there is 3-4 sections where you see silver/gray colors. Thank you for your time.

The photo needs to be printed by a color laser printer. To me that means you need to have the photo as a file which means it can be edited prior to printer, changing, hues, tints, softening harsh lines etc
Another method if your are doing a black and white photo is to scan the photo to a file. Take a white tile and spray paint it black. Using a computerized laser etcher, etch the photo file unto the tile. Here is an example

With this in mind these objects could have been done last week. They could have been a photo or illustration which was transferred to a file and then printed.

·5 months agoMy dad was a photographer. He put a photo emulsion on items (ash trays, tiles, etc.) and then printed on it in a darkroom in the 70s. In the 50s My mother hand painted, probably photo pencils, on the back of 16 x 20 B/W Negatives to colorize them. These are just other older examples.

Hand-colored? I doubt it, probably a colorized photo(s) but not hand colored. I collect hand colored photo images, this is NOT one.
Antique? I doubt it. Vintage tells us nothing except you don't know how old it is.

·5 months agoOne can copy photos onto ceramic tiles, either DIY or professionally - do the tiles themselves seem old?
