fake China made American coins
What is it with ebay allowing all of these fake China-made high end American coins to be sold? Every day I see more of these coins listed. They even put fake verdigris on some of them to make them more real looking. This is a real disservice to the honest ebay sellers and collectors, not to mention violating federal laws on counterfeiting.

·5 months agoWhat do you suggest as a solution to this problem? Should ebay inspect every single coin listed? Or leave it up to discerning buyers to report? We get posts like this all the time so I wonder why anybody deals in coins on ebay.

·5 months agoAs mentioned in my post, no one employed by eBay ever actually sees any coins sold here, or anything else, basically. That's why eBay offers the MBG for buyers.
There ARE legit coin dealers on eBay. But, just like anything else, potential buyers need to evaluate sellers carefully and it's good if they are well versed in counterfeit vs genuine in terms of any item.

·5 months agoYes I am not disagreeing with you at all. I am aware. I was addressing the OP.

·5 months agoOK. I was also addressing the OP who seemed to be under the mistaken impression that eBay was "allowing" counterfeit coins to be sold. The word "allowing" somewhat implies that eBay is aware of this and knowingly lets it happen.

·5 months agoIt's not exactly a matter of eBay "allowing" fake coins to be sold. No one at eBay sees of authenticates any item that's sold here. eBay more or less relies on the buyer's knowledge of what he's buying, what it should look like and how much it should cost If any buyer discovers that he has purchased anything counterfeit, he has access to eBay's Money Back Guarantee to resolve the issue.
If you have any suggestions as to how eBay could control the flow of anything counterfeit, eBay might be glad to hear them.
