Creating an AI listing using photo uploads
I have seen blogs where an Ebay user is able to create a listing just by upoading a photo. The tool uses AI to identify the item (in this case, a trading card) and creates a listing. In one blog the person said that you need a store subscription to use the tool. But what level store is need to access that tool. Thx for any help.

It's indeed feasible, but you need to add some content when processing tokens.

·4 months agoA few days ago an Ebay user posted on another board that he was a member of a test group that was using a new Ebay AI tool. Maybe what you read about has not been rolled out to the masses.

·4 months ago@dwstephens73 There are lots of helpful AI tools out there. eBay does have its on, but there are 3rd party tools as well. Without knowing what you read/saw, it is hard to answer your question. I can share with you my experience.
In early 2025 I experimented with eBay's AI tool after they expanded the use beyond cards. It sucked. There is just no other way to put it. I never used it for cards and maybe it handled them better, but I know for other things it did not save any time for me at all. It often could not determine what eBay category an item went into, which meant it could not fill in any of the item specifics. After about a month I stopped using it. As I said, it has been over a year since I've used it. The great thing about AI is that is generally gets better over time, so it likely does not have the same problems today as it did a year ago.
Last fall I started using a 3rd party AI listing program, which I'm happy with. It does save me time. It does not work for everything.
I am not aware of any 3rd party AI tool that requires an eBay store subscription. I honestly do not know that eBay's AI tool requires ones but I cannot say for sure. At the time I used eBay's AI tool I had their 2nd level store subscription, whatever that is called.

My thoughts, amounting to my personal opinions, follow below.
"AI has been known to be wrong." TRUE.....AI is a human creation. As with all human creations AI is subject to human error.
"AI descriptions are available for any listing." TRUE.....AI is a tool. Tools are available for any listing. (But I would not recommend using some tools, for example a sledge hammer or chainsaw, as a paintbrush.)
"It will be immediately obvious to the buyer that AI was used." FALSE...What is "obvious" to one person may not be obvious to someone else, since WHAT IS or WHAT IS NOT obvious (an individual's degree of "obviousness") depends largely on an individual's perspective. (I would not recommend assuming that what is obvious to one person is obvious to all people. Obviously.)
"AI (ebay) is immune from blame should the description not be accurate." TRUE....If a tool user decides to use a hammer as a paintbrush, then the hammer is not to blame for the decision nor is the hammer responsible for the results of that human decision (making the tool - a hammer - "immune from blame").
In summation I would say - AI can be a helpful multi-use tool but is largely misunderstood and mis-used since the technology of AI is new to many of its users. Understanding how to properly use ANY tool (an understanding which is typically gained via education, be it traditional "schooling" or experiential) is key to a person's ability to use that tool productively and effectively.
