Can I get help identifying this painting please?

I have this little painting on wood panel that looks like it is almost half gone. Perhaps someone was trying to restore it.

It measures 10 1/4â€ x 7 1/2â€

I think the signature on the back is: Werner

but I could be wrong.

Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

I agree with @wastingtime101 that the first two characters are MV. From the little I say of the painting it appears to be a Judaica themed portrait from the hat and what could be a prayer shawl, but hard to tell.
