Better alternatives than ebay to buy and sell coins and bullion? Ebay has wrecked their market .
Ebay is flooded with fake coins and bullion and does not seem to care. I reported several sites, and they claim there is nothing wrong. Comeon. Chinese sellers with no history selling below spot? They are destroying the hobby by facilitating the flood of fakes. Buying off of ebay is a risky proposition now.

·1 year agoI don't know of any website that has more reach for fewer costs than this one. Wish I did! Sure it's a bit of a buyer beware site, lots of good coins for sale, but lots of junk too. Fair prices, and crazy "what are you even thinking" prices. If you are buying, coin shows are a better place, but selling and you won't reach nearly as many people.

·1 year agoTo buy gold coins, you should buy them from a large, reliable website or from a reputable gold company’s online store. I have bought gold and platinum coins in China and they are not fake.

·1 year agoIf the picture is that of a real coin, the listing may not be in violation of any policies.
If the seller ships a counterfeit coin that would violate policy, and that would constitute fraud.
Until the buyer actually receives a fake -- or fails to receive a real coin -- the listing by itself may not be breaking any obvious rules.
An experienced buyer, looking at a zero feedback seller registered in China listing multiple quantities of silver coins at below spot silver prices, could likely think of lots of good reasons for not giving that seller any money, but none of those reasons are considered proof of fraud until the fraud has actually taken place.
Could eBay do more to remove fraudulent listings? Sure.
Should buyers report such listings when they see them? Of course.
Could eBay make it impossible for fraudulent items to be sold on eBay? Probably not.
As long as counterfeits exist and there are folks trying to sell them, buyers will still have to be on the lookout for them, and avoid deals that are obviously too good to be true.
