What is next for coin & token Collectors...#16.
16 Aug '25. Greetings to all coin, token, & paper money collectors, where-ever you might be. Heron is reporting another 5 Island items. This increases total of Island items to 220. (Note: items reported here ARE NOT FOR SALE).
Cocos Island 2 Dollars Coin 2003.
Ludlam Island New Jersey. Sea Isle City. Arcade token.
Comoro Island. 25 Francs 1982. An FAO coin issue.
Clearwater Island Florida. Souvenir token.
Rose Island Lighthouse. Rhode Island. Souvenir token.
Collecting these Island issues continues to be a lot of fun. And no worries about
counterfeit items. Not likely to happen. Numismatics is fun for a lifetime.

OP1 year agoThe Alt Heron still remembers the enlistment posters on walls of U.S. post offices. In early 1950s. "Join the Navy & see the World".

·1 year agoi haven't been on too many islands, less than 2 dozen i'm thinking, but i guess it depends on one's definition of "island"...

OP1 year agoHello Mr Smedley... Well, A.I. Googly considers an island to be a piece of land surrounded by water. In some cases, the water can be a canal or narrow stretch of water, like a creek or river. And some Islands are large. Australia is one large island. Sometimes it is difficult to categorize. An example is Coney Island. Coney Island has not been an island since the 1920s. It WAS an Island, but folks kept dumping gravel and rock and dirt into the narrow canal that made Coney Island an Island.

i'm guessing Costa Rica because i collect Guam exonumia and i've never seen a numismatic item having anything to do with Cocos Island Guam...

OP1 year agoHello Mr. Smedley. This Cocos is usually seen as Keeling & Cocos. Administered by Australia. The Alt Heron believes that the items issued for the Australian Cocos are mostly for collectors.

i was previously unaware of the Costa Rica one...
just googled Keeling & Cocos and it appears to be referred to by most as "Cocos (Keeling) Islands"...

OP1 year agoHello Mr. Smedley...! the Alt Heron totally forgot about the Cocos that is fairly close to Costa Rica. It is a good reminder for the 'search'. Heron is also trying to remember if he had been on Ludlam Island New Jersey. The town of Sea Isle City is on Ludlam Island, however, Heron is having a tough time remembering the place. Some times
memories are clouded by adult beverages...!! Heron did some surf fishing on Clearwater Island, Florida. No adult beverages were consumed. Easier to remember...
