In 83 I, purchased A 100 ounce of silver bar for $400 same As A ounce of GOLD $400 PLUS another 100 Oz of silver 4 more Oz of GOLD THAT PRICE didn't move A $1 for 20 plus years, Now I, paided $96 A ounce I, was reading & listening & watching videos that when it goes to A $100 most buyers will stop buying While it's on the way to $200 all this will make the price of collecting go up if you're collecting silver dimes or any coins THE price is eather gonna settle at A $100 plus until the dip
All you could do is wait & see
My, thoughts are the MINT COINS & SETS
People always need something to do as A hobby TOYS look WOW the way they make these collectable TOYS in cases THE details are better than A coins details I, bought A HARLEY QUINN DOLL FOR my, grand daughter, I, tried to say don't open it for A year, that was $39 in 1 year, it was $200 plus as original Same as hot wheels if you know what the treasure hunt HOT WHEELS ARE they are limited every year, for A $1 if you get 1 its worth $200 everything now has A limited edition
Hola Mr. Smedley...! Heron appreciates the info re price of Silver. Heron has not been watching the Silver bullion market info. However, after reading your OP, the Alt Heron sprang into action. Started review of what is in 'safe'. Have found over 950 .900 fine Quarters (USA) and about 150 Canada Silver Dollars .800 fine and Unc. (Bought these Canada items in 1979 whilst serving as Marketing Manager Canada. There was a coin shop in Yorktown in Toronto. Paid about $2.50 each.) Also from the 'safe' are about 35 Walkers. Some really worn slick but some about Fine. Probably not much to be considered for collecting...! Footnote: Counting coins is almost as boring as shredding documents. However, the reward is much better...!
I'm with you on this. The current price of silver will no doubt bring out the worst in some people. People I'd prefer to avoid doing business with.
That being said there's a package delivered sitting out in the mailbox I'll have to go out and get. A vintage pickle fork listed as plated by someone without other silverware listed. The price was very good (for plate) buy I noticed a tiny sterling mark on the photos. I just couldn't resist that one. I've scored other sterling listed as plate as it seemed the sellers didn't recognize the marks from European makers. They didn't see "Sterling" or "925" and assumed I believe, perhaps out of an abundance of caution.
This fork will be the last for awhile though..............................

i have a sterling bowl i got like that... at least, i hope it's sterling... South African marks, South African 50 cent coin inset... total weight around 6 TO, got it for $10 a number of years ago... i don't remember if i saw something in the pics or didn't realize until i got it...
Yes. I believe the STG mark on that one signifies sterling. Another example of why alot of sellers should familiarize themselves with purity marks that aren't what they consider the norm. I would be surprised if that bowl wasn't sterling.
One of my best buys was a fish dining knife and fork sold as plated. The English lion sterling mark right there for me to see. I use them every time I grill salmon in the summer and just smile. Being antique (I looked up the maker/year codes as well) I coated them with a few coats of an Everbright product (a Co. in New Zealand) just to make sure of no contact with any impurities in the copper part of the alloy although unlikely.............
Besides coins, I also deal in antique and vintage jewelry. With silver skyrocketing I decided it was time to sell off some of my non-descript pieces of Sterling. Gathered together about six ounces and took it to my favorite metals dealer. He tests everything he buys, no matter how small a quantity. I saw why. Six ounces of jewelry, every piece clearly marked Sterling- half of it was fake. Marked Sterling, tested no silver. I still made money after the runup, but not the payday I was expecting. Looks like I may have to shell out for one of the testing devices. A good one runs about $2000.
Haven't really done any comparison shopping yet. My friend changes out his devices every other year or so, might get one of his old ones. They still work, but as they get older their processing time slows down. He's processing hundreds of ounces a day, so he needs speed. Me, not so much.
Over all I do pretty well buying silver. At one local auction they had a tray lot of silver tableware. They couldn't read the marks, so they sold it as silverplate. I recognized Russian silver hallmarks. 14 ounces of .900 fine Russian silver, for $10.
A good tester is 1500 it test GOLD SILVER & CLAD that's weird not copper I, see these CHINESE lady's go around on trash day, They have eather shopping carts filled about 10 feet with plastic bags tied around them Collecting plastic bottles I, guess they go to NEW YORK its like the SINFELD SHOW ware KRAMER comes up with the idea of filling A truck load of plastic to sell in A different state

i've probably bought around 50 in the last 6 or 7 years, but very few in the last 2... around here it's all online, and there's some new bidders that have jacked prices up higher than i'm willing to go...
a $50 unit 4 years ago now goes north of $200... most times it's just not worth the time or trouble... i've found a few good things but usually it's just "junk"... last year i found a gold necklace, and a year or two before i found $250 cash in a book... a few other bits of gold and silver, and a little cash here and there, but nothing amazing...
Buy if you want DONT buy from EBAY not these Till the CHINESE JUNK goes or be ready to spend A bean on eBay 15 CHEEPER in person ACTUALLY I, thought 35 was to much THE way their Goin now expect 2 beans or more in 2026

OP8 months agoi've passed on many storage units because of tires...

·8 months agoThey used to hold an annual old tire round up every Spring charging a buck for a passenger car tire.
But if they paid two-fifty per tire then you could advertise 'free tires' and someone would actually come by and pick them up.
