·2 years agoYess! Searching through rolls of coins (USA coins) was a lot of fun from 1965 to about 1968. Many nice silver coins could be found for 'face value'.
Heron in 1965 was searching through a roll of USA Dismes and found a 1946 Newfoundland 10 Cent coin. (Note: this coin IS NOT FOR SALE).
Heron continues to keep this coin, just for fun!

·2 years agoBest I did was finding a tarnished dime in a roll of pennies, but to no avail as it was my account where I worked, and the 9-cent overage was kept by them at time of reconciliation. Had I been 9 cents short I would have been required to dig in my pocket to close out for the week.

·2 years agoNo, just a place where shortages were my responsibility, and overages belonged to the business 😊
There was a (+) (-) tolerance at each accounting period, but as this was the closing of my accountability at that location, I would be responsible to reconcile any shortages.
Shortages happened to me twice in my 19 years with the employer. Paperwork accounting errors that were not worth digging into to correct.

·2 years agoHola BuySellJack, thank you for the explanation. We have 3 CPAs in the family. However, Heron is not a CPA. Always curious though. And asking questions adds to the knowledge, hopefully. Now the problem is memory bank...!

·2 years agoLet me get this straight: Your BANK calls you in person if/when they receive a coin that you might be interested in purchasing? And then what -- you buy the coin at face value, or your bank is actually a coin dealer?
