Forgotten Faeroe Islands slab
i had this slabbed ages ago, maybe when i was still in Hawaii, but for sure before early 2006 because that's when ANACS changed slabs to the blue labels... this style with a 7 digit number was made before early 2006...
no clue what i paid for the coin or how much to slab, but i definitely won't lose money if i decide to sell... all soapbox slabs are desirable right now... and the coin in UNC isn't common...

·9 months agoI had almost completed my every country since 1870 set before circumstances forced me to give it up. Maybe twenty more to go. But some of those twenty would be in the five figure range, so I knew it would be unlikely I could fill every last hole. And I was more ambitious than some; I was tracking political changes. For example, Albania started out as a republic in 1912. Then the prime minister declared himself king in 1926. Then Mussolini chased him out in 1939, and the Italians were run off by the communists in 1945. The republic returned in 1991. I had all of them. And it could have been a monarchy again. The former king's son tried to return in the 1990's, but couldn't garner enough popular support.

coin. Nice 'find'.

·9 months agoFaeroe Islands. Not the most glam of coins, but definitely rare. I don't think I've ever seen an Unc specimen.

OP9 months agoreally? good to know... i don't plan on selling it anytime soon as it's part of my world type set... one coin per country/entity...
actually, i only rediscovered it because i was adding the first new coin to the set in years, a low-grade 1926 200 cash coin from Szechuan China...
