·1 year agoAs far as I'm concerned, The US penny can stay. Elon should be more interested with getting rid of Teslas. That would save our country hundreds of millions, maybe even billions, because we would no longer be buying his crappy cars, as that would greatly reduce wasteful spending by consumers. Elon will have no control over the US Treasury, US Mint or the Federal Reserve. He's only wasting his time and words by speaking out of his rear end. Nobody cares about anything he has to say anyway.

·1 year agoCanada already canceled the penny (quite a few Canadian pennies were made of steel, US Banks would run a magnet over penny roles to catch them). The US Postal Service should cancel the 1 cent stamp so that they can lower their rates too; in fact, round it off to the nickel, make life easier. Daylight Savings Time should be abolished too, keep Daylight Standard Time. ROTFLMAO

·1 year agoHola Youn2240...! Yes, the value of some Pennies (genuine Pennies) has increased superbly over the years. The Anglesey 1 Penny 1788 British Merchant Trade Token currently has a value of about $37.50 to Hundreds of Dollars in price. The Anglesey Penny probably was worth about 20 Cents to 25 Cents U.S. in the year 1946. Heron purchased many Conder tokens in the years 1960 to 1970 for $1 to $3, mas o menos. So, another good feature of coin collecting is watching certain items increase in value. Keeping up with inflation and sometimes passing the inflation level. Coin collecting is a fun hobby. For a lifetime.

Heron 1st encountered 'rounding' in the country of Colombia Jan 1980.
When Heron received the 'check' for breakfast at the Hilton Hotel, the
amount had been 'rounded up' by 200 Pesos. At that time there were few coins being circulated. So, 200 Pesos was about 20 or 25 Cents U.S. and Heron is not going to argue about such things when in a foreign land.
In addition, the food at the Hilton was American EEUU style and it was a great breakfast. Heron tipped the waiter with 2 USA Dollars. He could
make 15% by selling the Dollars to the 'cambio' (money changer).

OP1 year agoElheron thanks for the reply IF you read what the Canadian government done when they stopped making the penny it ment more $$ for the Canadian government Rounding off to the nearest purchase say 8 cents you pay 10 cents to the government they make way more than not making the coins its A hundred thousand lose to A 4 million gain

·1 year agoRounding should not be a problem. This is the age of super computadores. A program can be manufactured to make the rounding an automatic system. The AI is super smart. Smart enough to make rounding a simple transaction. This is an opinion.

·1 year agoHola Moderncoins...! Heron's first batch of coins that he received in mid-April 1946 had several 'tokens' in the batch. One was a British Merchant Trade Token aka Conder Token. It was a 1 Penny (the genuine Penny) and issued for Anglesey Island off the coast of Wales. Heron did not collect many tokens until the year 1960. Heron searched for British Merchant Trade Tokens. Also in the year 1960, el Heron bought an island coin. It was the 1871 issue for Prince Edward Island. And that began Heron's search for coins and tokens issued by and for islands. (At the same time searching for HRE coins (Holy Roman Empire coins). Plus searching for coins, tokens, and paper money. Mostly of Mexico but also of other Latin American issues. For Heron it has been a lifetime of study and learning about coins, tokens, and paper money. Some of the modern 'gaming' tokens are neat. Some colorful plastic issues. Here are the main types of tokens: Casino (gaming) tokens, Transit tokens,
souvanir tokens, commemorative issues, and 'good for' tokens.
Always something interesting to acquire.
