Printed on one side only.
Colors: Red on white (somewhat faded white).
Year 976 the Duchy of Karntner was formed from territory formerly
part of Bavaria.

1920 Most of Karntner was formed as a State of Austria.
**Another interesting issue of emergency monry and by a Duchy that was the 1st Duchy to be formed after the 5 stem duchies were created.
Five 'stem' duchies: Bavaria, Franconia, Lotharingia, Saxony, Swabia.
Heron acquired this issue of paper money about 2002 or 2003, from a long time coin & paper money dealer selling off his inventory for retirement 'funds'. It was a good deal. Always fun to have another different issue of paper money for discussion. This is a great hobby
and good for a life-time.**

it seems that the Kärnten authorities were a bit too fast. they started to print exactly on the 11th November when nobody really knew yet what will exactly happen with Kärten. it was - most probably - also a certain Angst because Kärnten had a big population of Yugoslav speaking citizens that wanted to become part of the slavic kingdom and not of the Germanspeaking Austria. the problem was only "solved" in 1920 with the treaty of St. Germain, but brought no real peace. although not open war, there were many dead due to the Freikorps that came down from Germany and commotted atrocities gave bad blood.
certainly an interesting item for historically interested people but - as all Notgeld - not really worth much.
