Why such a wide range in price?
I've seen the same item in price from $1.87 to over $4500. It's a common item. Why do sellers think they will get so much more than the item is worth? Why are they surprised when it doesn't sell. I asked someone and all I got was a nasty response. Buyer beware.

·1 year agoNo one can buy an out of stock item if the quantity is set to zero. Much simpler than putting in a high price or canceling and relisting.

·1 year agoThe item for $4500 if promoted highly will show up under other sellers items as well as listed near the top of that particular item for sale in searches. Plus it shows seller has a $4500. total value of items for sale.
I sell stamps and a lot of sellers will list a valueless stamp for $ 5000. or $ 10,000. dollars when it is not even worth a penny. I would never contact sellers about a wrong price of an item for sale. It's just a good laugh to see these sellers list items that are basically worthless. These sellers know exactly what they are doing.

take a vacation or don't want to deal with sales for a period of time.

·1 year agoThat's probably still done once in a while, but it's an outdated method, from before the Time Away setting became available to sellers without a store, and before listing removals for price gouging became a concern in some categories.

·1 year agoIn some cases when a seller runs out of an item they will put a very high price on it to prevent sales until they get more in stock. It's less trouble to do that than remove and replace the listing. However, that is not allowed by eBay.
In other cases prices in venues like this vary as the crow flies.

·1 year agoSounds like the seller is just using the listing as a 'hold' until they 'get more' so they jump the price to a ridiculous amount knowing nobody would buy...until they 'get more'.
