Why is eBay on mobile flooded with promotions when searching items to buy?
Summary: taffgiraffe expressed frustration with the excessive promotional content on eBay's mobile search results. They highlighted various promotional elements like sponsored stores, live notifications, and related searches that appear frequently, making the search experience difficult. They suggested reducing the frequency of these promotions and allowing users the option to disable unwanted notifications.
You have:
- sponsored stores or items at the top
- "Don't miss what's live" as you're scrolling through search results (including multiple individual notifications about live stores every day)
- "inspired by your watchlist notifications"
- "Related Searches"
- "Brands you might love"
Each of these are advertised every 5-10 rows in your search results. When you're in a compact environment on mobile, this reparative behavior makes searching completely unenjoyable. One or two of these is okay like every 3 minutes of scrolling, maybe? At the very least, you could limit individual notifications to join your live events I have no interest in. Maybe add functionality to disable it?

OP2 weeks agoSomeone in support, QA, or a developer made sure I got 6 individual notifications on the day of asking this question on mobile. Usually only 2 a day. That's a definitely "no", lol.
