Why does eBay sucks so much now.
I mean, did they hire people to destroy eBay? Just to do any simple little task, I have to click, and click, and click, and hope I get lucky and find what I am trying to achieve.
eBay is a perfect example of fixing something that isn’t broken. It’s a new experience every month. Maybe eBay should save some money and layoff 90% of their staff.
maybe Amazon will buy eBay.

·1 year agoeBay turned eBay into crap could it be they want to implode eBay from within do they even care about the people, it's just like Microsoft Windows with iTunes it was great, but some kid wanted to prove to the world that he can mess up a good thing or in other words it's like he is the guy in the world who can mess up a wet dream

·2 years agoI HAVE BEEN SELLING FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND IT USED TO GREAT. NOW IT IS A MESS AND THEY HAVE MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE A LIVING. THE MARKET IS FLOODED WITH GARBAGE AND THEY MESS WITH EXPOSURE REALLY BAD. I HAVE LISTINGS THAT SHOW AT RANDOM AND THEN CAN'T BE FOUND? THEY HAVE SPENT SO MUCH TIME WITH FANCY GRAPHS AND COMPLETELY CHANGING EVERYTHING AROUND FOR NO REASON? CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A JOKE AND TO BE HONEST I WISH SOMEONE ELSE WOULD START A NEW AUCTION SITE BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE EBAY GO BANKRUPT FOR THE DISRESPECT THEY HAVE SHOWN ME.

·2 years agoYes totally agree, eBay sucks. They are agonizing because of Amazone, Alibaba and Temu. They stopped taking phone calls about 3 years ago, it won't take too long before they shut down their business. Before, when one of my item is sold, I receive an email and if you don't check your messages in your eBay account you don't send the sold item on time to the buyer they will put a freeze on your money eventhough you have sent already shipped it late. They are doing so many things illegal and so far they are getting away with it. Also when you sell an item and use your credit card, they charge you $2 beside eBay fees, this is ridiculous, I'm thinking of closing my account after 20 years with them.

It's possible that you could be right, but people have been predicting this for years. It reminds me of a comment credited to Mark Twain: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

·2 years agoI just posted a response to eBay on why I'll never sell on their platform again. Over 20 plus years with them and they screwed me hugely on a sale. Having to wait for the funds until after the buyer receives the item, then it's at their discretion when they release the funds to me! (Let's them make interest off MY funds). In addition, the positive feedback the buyer gave me isn't available until I make nine more sales! I had 111 sales previously with 100% positive feedback, but because i haven't sold recently, I'm classed as a "new seller!"
Screw them, will never sell their again!

·2 years agoeBay seems like they are destroying themselves. Constant changes that are only for the worse. I'm down 50% from last year and 80% from the year before. It just keeps getting worse and worse. 15 years and I'm getting ready to close up shop.

·2 years agoEVERY website under the sun is doing the same.
The VERY BEST thing to do (and this site has been 'changing things for OVER 5 years' is to
a.) accept it
b.) figure out how to 'make it work' or 'work around it'.
c.) Posting about it does NOTHING!!

I search on a couple of words: Fender telecaster neck rosewood
The search results don't turn up a fender telecaster rosewood neck until the 26th listing? Why is this not the top of the search results? Of 105 returned items only three have what I am looking for, I DO NOT want to sift through all the other items ebay in forcing me to see. Sometime in the past the search engine would have returned the 3 I was after then below something like "using less words". And I consider this a good example, it gets a lot worse. Ebay user / seller since 1999 and I am over it.

< Fender telecaster neck rosewood >
The search engine is stupid; it did what you said instead of what you wanted. It didn't know that it should have substituted (fretboard, fingerboard) in place of neck. They call this GIGO.
Multiple words inside parentheses, separated by comma(s), is the way to implement an OR function on eBay.

·2 years agoAt least at eBay buyers kinda know what country there items are coming from...although quite a few sell on eBay and items come from Amazon. Buyers can see seller ID eBay country.
Amazon has a number of sellers selling items in the USA from live in other countries. Which might make returning something not as easy.
msha3839
·2 years agoReturning on Amazon to the third party sellers, in the case of the problem, is way way easier than on eBay…and sellers value their presence on Amazon…

·2 years agoThere were some rumblings that X (Twitter) was looking to get into something similar to Ebay.
I would love to see that happen and wonder how it would impact the industry. + or -
Ebay is not perfect in any sorts but i still think its the best one out there currently. IMHO

·2 years agoI don't think the idea was for him to buy Ebay but start/add some type of selling platform on X(Twitter). Like or Dislike the guy, competition would cause changes on other selling platforms. IMHO
X has a lot of users so having users join would already be baked into it adding it as another function of the platform.

·2 years agoI love when people think that because they're unhappy it means eBay is "going down". But a quick look at eBay financial reports for 2023 reveals:
So hardly "going down". 😄

·2 years agoWell, you’re definitely not a part that benefits from “ eBay revenue “..p.s.and yes, eBay lost many sellers and buyers..and don’t confuse revenue with net income…🙄
oaklandmaryland
·2 years agoyou must remember that the shipping costs are considered seller profit now so Ebay shipping fees have increased. Reporting revenue has many forms to make stockholders think they are doing great.

·2 years agoAmazon will never buy Ebay. Ebay does not appear on their strategy. It is not a competitor nor is it in a business they want.
Amazon is in the mass market retail products business. It has de-emphasized all of its one of a kind categories and made products which fit them more difficult to sell because of its counterfeit elimination initiatives which lack exceptions for collectible items.
Many of the used products sold on Ebay could not be listed on Amazon.
The changes sellers have hated since the days of Meg Whitman were changes to make Ebay more like Amazon.
Ebay continues to make changes to enhance buyer safety, which offend many sellers. I await with some dread what Ebay does to counter the false shipment address scams which are recurring in threads on this forum.
I have a lot of items listed and do not encounter any difficulties with the mechanics of listing and selling on Ebay. Either I am very lucky, or more adaptable than sellers who do.
I have no problem dealing with the automated policy and problem handling. Maybe it is the years I sold on Amazon which is a pioneer on running a site by bot.
But I have applied decades of experience to not listing anything here that is going to generate high hassle sales to high maintenance customers. And no matter how irrational I think Ebay policies might be, I avoid conflict with them, knowing that they will not change based on anything I can do.
For the casual, infrequent seller, selling online is probably easiest with Facebook Marketplace or Craig's List. And I would not count on Facebook Marketplace to remain as it is.

·2 years ago@magickits.com,
"eBay is a perfect example of fixing something that isn’t broken. It’s a new experience every month. Maybe eBay should save some money and layoff 90% of their staff".
They did lay off about 9% of their staff a month or so back. Unfortunately, their new hires, over the last several years, seem to be people who do not have much experience with ebay, and their bosses don't seem to understand what built the site into what it was, in the first place.
Otherwise, why make something simple like just getting to a member's feedback profile page take more than one click. Once there one has to decide whether to see most recent feedback as opposed to "Most relevant" that is now the default landing sorting, when it really isn't.
"maybe Amazon will buy eBay".
I sincerely hope that never happens. Amazon has its own set of problems, and the last thing we need is combining them with the ebay ones. It would probably cost the site most of its lower volume sellers almost immediately if the two companies were to merge.

OP2 years agoI agree, Amazon should never own eBay, I feel like Amazon is putting so many companies out of business, I just threw that in because it’s just another frustration.
I was only looking to see “what†and “when†I sold an item and eBay, and I just gave up looking. I can see all the stuff I bought in a couple clicks but (heaven forbid), I want to see what I sold! Wow.
Thanks for listening.

·1 year agoIt does suck it's like kicking a dead horse..like pissing in the wind...can't shine a turd...it's a shame I started with eBay now when I get new stuff to list I go there maybe last. I think it's coming closer to an end by the crossover stats I have made from the amount of money I make not them. I want money and it's not making it plain and simple. Maybe they use AI too much or maybe this friggin that I don't know I have feedback that's bull**bleep** they say yes they will fix but don't they lie....lie...lie.. it's no use wasting time on a platform that doesn't give a **bleep** about sellers when they already know their market share is on the constant decline and for good reason. Other sites promote extra discount for purchases built in sellers gain the advantages during black Friday eBay did nothing. They are spinning into eternal abyss. I have soo many great things to list but what's the point? Not to mention the feedback that goes down never up. It's doom and gloom at this point.
