Why Does eBay Allow Bad Actors to Remain on the Platform?
Why Does eBay Allow Bad Actors to Remain on the Platform? It's a rhetorical question. We all know why. I am done with eBay after dealing with a horrific seller who never shipped the item and then cursed me out when I asked for an ETA. Guess who eBay sided with? eBay destroys communities and is another greedy "tech" company that promised great things for the USA (and the world) and caused harm instead. It is not okay to allow thieves and other unethical people to remain on this platform if it really is about fair trade. I don't care if people hate my post--what I say is true. Shame on eBay and all California-based tech companies that care about money and hate humanity.

Guess it's easier to post a tirade than to open an ITEM NOT RECEIVED case and get your money back....
I hope you find a better place to shop online. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

·6 months agoWas there not an EDD (estimated date of delivery) in the listing when you made your purchase?
Isn't that the same as an ETA?

OP6 months agoYes there was an estimated date of delivery with a time range. I waited until the day AFTER the last day in that range and asked the seller if there was an issue out of respect, in case they had extenuating circumstances. They ignored it. I then filed an INR and then suddenly the seller wrote and wrote very nasty things. I then said I would have to leave negative feedback if they continues (and also because it's my right to say that the item never arrived in time). The seller did nothing to try to resolve the issue but only cursed at me. Another person replying here said the seller can go after me for threatening them. This is ludicrous. I just closed my eBay account. Good luck to everyone supporting greedy, hateful entities like eBay. It's run by "tech" people who do not care about anything other than $$$.

·6 months agoCurious of 2 things:
1.) did the item have a tracking number?
2.) If so, what did tracking state?

You handled this wrong.
Instead of sending the seller a message asking for an ETA and leaving negative feedback, you should have opened INR (item not received).
You bought the "OLAPLEX PROFESSIONAL 4-IN-1 MOISTURE MASK 12.55 oz., Authentic" on February 25. I'm not sure what your order shows as the EDD (estimated delivery date) but on the following day after the date passes, you should go back to the order and open a claim.
If there's no tracking showing delivery, you can ask ebay to step in and issue the refund.
The seller looks like a dropshipper.

OP6 months agoI did not handle this wrong! How terrible of you to assume I did! You are nothing more than an eBay apologist parroting their authoritarian business practices. I reached out to the seller the day after the item was due to be delivered (the day after the LAST day of the delivery date time frame) and didn't hear back. I then opened an INR claim and the seller wrote me a nasty, insulting email. I warned them I would leave negative feedback if they continued to behave poorly, they did, and negative feedback was left. I am exiting eBay after 25+ years of being a 100% great seller and buyer. eBay is a platform for thieves to sell stolen merchandise and garbage from China. It used to be a great place to find collectibles and items people need that would otherwise be thrown into landfills. Shame that eBay is run by greedy tech people who hate humanity and our planet. Shame on you for attempting to scold me without knowing all the facts!

·6 months agoRespectfully, you didn't give all the facts.
You told us you contacted the seller for an ETA. You didn't tell us that you opened INR.
"I then opened an INR claim and the seller wrote me a nasty, insulting email."
So if you opened INR, did the seller respond? If there wasn't tracking showing delivery, did the seller issue a refund? If the seller didn't issue the refund voluntarily, did you go back to ask ebay to step in?
"I warned them I would leave negative feedback if they continued to behave poorly, they did, and negative feedback was left."
This might come back to bite you. Threatening negative feedback is considered by ebay to be feedback extortion and the seller can report your threat and get that feedback removed.
"Shame on you for attempting to scold me without knowing all the facts!"
And shame on you for not giving all the facts. I am not an ebay apologist nor am I a shill for them. I post as I see it and in this case, the onus was on you to be transparent, which you were not until now!

OP6 months agoWow, instead of being helpful, you chose to be an authoritarian, condescending know-it-all without the facts and now you're lashing out and claiming I didn't provide all the facts? I just closed my eBay account because of terrible people like you and I reported eBay to our Federal government. We all know eBay has become a platform to enable thieves to sell stolen goods. Keep enabling bad actors and see where that gets you in life! My bank will get my refund and eBay can pay the chargeback penalty. I am done with eBay and people like you who condone and enable wrongdoing. Take care and please re-think how you approach your community feedback.

·6 months agoeBay is just another unregulated listed stock price and executive compensation scheme. Scammers thrive here. Sellers and buyers have their share of challenges, but scammers thrive here. It gives eBay “leaders”, the walking executive compensation scheme drones of Hamilton Avenue, something to do.
I recently attempted to notify eBay of a scam in real time. The seller TOLD me he did not have the item on a message. The seller told me he had ALREADY sold it. The seller sent me a shipping notice with NO actual tracking. The seller then denied my cancellation request instantly. Not only was a live chat agent not available and a callback was delayed 22 minutes, the agent let me know that due to eBay policies, there was nothing they could do for another four days. So basically, the scammer had a four day grace period to keep it going. Even the customer service agent was surprised at how blatant this scammer was.
Ebay is just like a majority of listed companies working in a short term capacity for their stockholders and the sum of all the vapid “diluted stock” compensated executive looters that have “led” it.

Have you read this link that is posted on every listing where it says "Shop with confidence"?

OP6 months agoCouldn't agree more! eBay is a haven for scammers. Our Federal government should investigate and close them down. eBay cares about total # of sales, not quality of sales. It's sad to see so many posting here who are supporting this business model and lashing out at me without knowing (or asking me) about the facts of my case. My bank will refund my money. I closed my eBay account and am thankful to walk away! No more supporting these types of "tech" entities that are destroying humanity.

·6 months agoHow did ebay side with them? If you just messaged the seller and asked for an ETA then there is nothing for ebay to 'side' with.
Did you open an INR? Was a tracking number provided? There is a lot of info missing in your post. If you can provide info there are people here that can help you get it resolved as ebay is very buyer friendly.

·6 months agoDid you utilize the 30 day money back guarantee? Go to your purchase history and find the item in question. If the estimated delivery date has passed, click on I haven't received my item. The seller will have 3 business days to upload tracking proving delivery or refund outright. If not, return to the case on the 4th day and ask eBay to step in and they will force a refund. No need to contact the seller; this is an automated process.
