Why cant we block bad sellers ?
Sellers can block buyers they don't want to deal with, why can't buyers block sellers who they don't want future dealings with?

·3 years agoWhom is it that says you can’t block a bad and atrociously nasty seller? Of course you can. With incredible ease actually! It’s a piece of cake… do not give them your money, ever. Boom, blocked for life baby and guess who won? You did!
This bizarre question makes absolutely no sense. There’s many a seller that I’ve had a run in with over the years that wasn’t the most professional, or nice. Occasionally I’ll come across one of their ads. After scrolling down to reread their continually growing, horrible feedback, I’m reminded of how I’ve blocked them for life, in my mind. The overwhelming satisfaction that I fell from that is far greater than what any silly eBay seller blocking button could ever deliver in a million years. Boom, I won!

·3 years ago@rbdh4282 Due diligence - all seller's have feedback, and savvy buyers should know what to look for and how to use the MBG in the event something goes wrong. As a buyer it is near on impossible to lose any claim using the tools eBay give you.
So I am of the mind that if you have so many sellers (more than 10) to add to the exclusion list (how to provided by eburtonlab) perhaps eBay is not the venue for you.

·3 years agoGet a post it note and write the seller's name on it and stick it on the wall near your desktop or office and then if you find an item and the seller is on the list, skip that ad. If you truly dislike the seller, email them ask them to put you on their blocked list.

·3 years agoThat has been a wanted feature as long as eBay. It could be an issue with charging a listing fees for a service not provided to a blocked seller? Just a guess however.
I keep them in my saver seller list.

·3 years agoI want a feature to block entire listings, items or sellers.
Maybe even block a category or two or three that I'm never interested in.

Blocking is the only way sellers can prevent someone from buying from them.
Buyers don’t need a block to avoid buying from a seller. We simply can decide not to buy from them.
I’m a buyer only … and I’ve never understood this request. I can ‘Exclude’ a seller from a Search if I want. I don’t need to be protected from sellers who have no way to sell to me without my consent. 🤔

OP3 years agoPart of my buying is for things I use in my business, lately it seems there are many sellers offering subpar items which are no where near the claimed specifications claimed or they are not meeting projected shipping times, I'm not talking about missing shipping by a day or even a week but by a month or more, I've had several with a delivery date a month or more out from purchase as a delivery date yet when that date arrives the tracking shows a tracking number is provided however they haven't even turned the items over to the shipping company.
By the time the items arrived it was 60-90 days out. I have even gotten ebay to refund from a couple because the seller wouldn't respond to me or ebay trying to contact them.
Yet when looking at feedback scores the seller has a rating in the 98% or higher,
Oddly enough when ebay steps in on these issues as a buyer your blocked from leaving any feedback so the seller still keeps a good feedback rating.
While most sellers are pretty good it would definitely be a better platform and help if sellers with these practices could be blocked or have less than positive feedback left

Some may leave but new buyers arrive.

That's an Item Not Received dispute on last estimated delivery date plus one second.

It would be polite to notify the seller that the item is late. No discussion is needed after that. If they respond, take it from there. No response? Dispute under the Money Back Guarantee. .

That's not an A+, 98% is quite poor.
If the seller has a lot of sales, they could also have a lot of negs without dropping below 100% FB rating.
Because: ratios.
With 100 sales , 5 negs is 95%.
With 100,000 sales, 500 negs is 100%. Because there are 99,500 happy customers.
Stick with 99% or higher. And if you are not sure read the negative and neutral FB for patterns like slow delivery or poor quality.
Some buyers cannot be satisfied, so there is that.

You can leave feedback or Dispute the transaction.
Not both.
Especially if you are using mail order for your business, it is vitally important that you take time to read the feedback and pay attention to estimated arrival dates. It is also probably worthwhile to upgrade to a faster shipping service if the seller offers one, and to ask about purchasing an upgraded service if they don't.

Not entirely correct. Only if a case is found in the seller's favor can feedback not be left. If the buyer prevails they absolutely can leave feedback.

What serious buyer wants to search for something only to find results far above market price or filled with obviously fake items? I buy trading cards, and my search results are constantly littered with junk. I’m not trying to get something for the cheapest price, just something authentic and reasonably priced—not absurdly marked up beyond market value. I don’t mind paying a bit more for something I really want, but dealing with this constantly is frustrating. It would be great to have a permanent way to filter these out, but instead, we’re stuck relying on convoluted search formulas.

If you are searching for a specific item, using a price range can filter out a lot of junk at the low end and many obviously overpriced offerings at the high end.
It would be great to have a permanent way to filter these out, but instead, we’re stuck relying on convoluted search formulas.
If you spend a bit of time creating and saving a more targeted search -- convoluted or not -- you can quite often save yourself a lot of time weeding through unnecessary results. Then use your limited number of seller blocks on those individual targeted searches to filter out the listings of specific sellers you want to avoid that are not already filtered out.

I’m unsure why you’re reiterating an approach that directly contradicts the goal of streamlining the buyer’s shopping experience. If sellers can easily block buyers, it stands to reason that buyers should have the same capability to block sellers. What you’re suggesting undermines the principles coders aim to uphold—creating a seamless and user-friendly web experience. This is precisely why companies like big-box retailers and eBay prioritize gathering feedback through surveys to continuously improve the shopping process.

·3 years agoJust can't and haven't been able to since the beginning of this venue.
You CAN do a search for something and then 'exclude' items from a specific seller, but you would have to do it each/every time you do this 'search'.

·1 year agoIf you shop for same things all the time, you could build a search with those sellers excluded and save it.
