Why are sellers given the option to ignore a buyers
When did ebay allow sellers to ignore potential sales?
Yes, it is being done. I found this out while looking for an item. Not sure about anyone here but I find this to be shady on the part of the seller as well as lazy. I would NEVER put anything up for sale anywhere and then choose not to take questions from a customer.

·1 year agoRemember, too that a no response is a response. Those sellers may be just too busy, and that may mean they are too busy to provide any customer service later if you need that as well. Find another seller you might be more comfortable with.

Many thanks for your comment. After posting I realize perhaps I should have worded it in a different way.
What I should have written is when I wrote to the seller, a message pops up right after I hit the send button a message shows up saying something along the lines of the seller does not take messages. In all the years I've been on ebay, I've never run across the issue.
I agree with you in regards to moving on to a different seller; I ended up buying from someone else and keep a list of sellers like that one.

The good old days are gone. Many sellers today are either so high-volume they can't deal with the number of messages they receive, or are dropshippers and usually don't know the answer to inquiries. All you can do is find another seller.

Answering questions has never been a requirement of sellers. If I don't get a question answered by a seller, I move on to a different seller.
I do see your point and as a seller, I answer ~98% of questions asked. The only ones I don't answer are from buyers that end up on my blocked buyer list after I read their inquiry or random message they sent.
