Why are my searches returning results not related to my search?
For example, if I search 1984 Donruss Don Mattingly to look for that card. I get items like 1981 tim rains, Don Mattingly cards from other years/companies, cards from 2025, blaster boxes, etc. All mixed in with my search results.

Try this search:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1984+Donruss+Don-Mattingly&_sacat=0&_sop=10
Grouping keywords with dashes will cause eBay to look for listings where those words are in exact order. You can do the same thing using quotes around multiple keywords, but using quotes has other effects -- preventing automatic category navigation and preventing keyword substitutions.

For the same reason grocery stores periodically move the locations of items. To get you to look at items not on your shopping list in hopes you'll buy them too.

·9 months agoBecause Cassini is not a search engine designed to give you results that you want.
It is weighted towards what ebay wants to show you.
Do your searching on google to get better results.

·9 months agoBecause each word is a keyword. So the system will look for 19 blah blah, also Donruss, Also Don, Also Mattingly etc.
If you want to narrow down, put your search in quotations " " but know that ONLY the results that come back will be in the EXACT order of how you write it
The way you searched, 2700+ results
With quotations- 67 results
You will see more if you put "don mattingly" or "donruss don mattingly" or don mattingly donruss 1984" or etc etc.
