Who handles disputes? Robots or AI, or real people
Who handles disputes? Robots or AI, or real people? Seller has three feedbacks. All buyers claim they didn't get their orders. A minus 3 rating (you need to work very hard for that rating). Ebay rejected my refund because the seller sent a bogus tracking number. I can't even leave my own feedback

·8 months agoIf you have banking online with your Debit or Credit Card...go online and do a 'dispute'.
It's fast and a quicker refund than calling or going in person to the bank.
'Real people'...even if they are real they can't do anything.
Artificial Intelligence basically does statistics related problems...so certain words or wording might get a rejected refund.
Robots will be in the future...although some at my grocery store as cashiers act like robots...they only know 5 words : credit or cash and bag?...They sound like robots and act like them though.

Was that information not available to you before you made your purchase?

OP8 months agoAlso, on the screen for a listed item, there should be a way for community members to alert Ebay that "hey, this might be fraud. you might want to investigate." If enough ebay community members try to point out potential fraud, maybe ebay would investigate and stop some fraud/scams before it happens.

OP8 months agoAnother related scam is to hold simultaneous auctions for maybe 6 items. There is no negative feedback for this new seller till all the auctions have occurred then all the negative feedback starts rolling in all at the same time. Too late for me. I checked for negative feedback before I started bidding.

·8 months agoPerfectly legitimate new sellers also run multiple auctions at the same time, though. That, in and of itself, is not a red flag, nor a way for this type of issue to be identified by eBay.
Utilizing the Money Back Guarantee when possible, or your credit card's protections when needed, gets the message across to eBay fairly clearly, though. They are limited in how they can address the fake tracking scams, but hopefully if it becomes more painful to leave things as is than it is to find a solution, a solution will be found.

FB, negative or positive, can be left immediately. No one has to wait til ALL the auctions have been sold, paid for and received.

Scammers often list many too-good-to-be-true items all at once. If estimated delivery takes three weeks, that means there is potentially a three week window where the seller can still be selling, but the first buyers have not yet caught on to the scam and started to leave negative feedback. If the scammers use false tracking, eBay may even provide automated positive feedback when the tracking shows delivery. There is no substitute for actual feedback from actual buyers -- preferably buyers with some feedback of their own.

·8 months agoAs mentioned above, you can open a chargeback with your credit card or if it's within 30 days, you can open a refund for "Item Not As Described", and if you're asked to send something back, send them back an empty envelope (because that's what they sent out.)
In either of those cases, the seller/ scammer will have to refund you and will also get a strike on their account.
In my opinion, the only way ebay can end this scam is by updating their tracking to show delivered to Address, not just zip code.

Looking for negative feedback works for established sellers that have been selling similar items for a while, but not necessarily for new sellers that have not been selling long enough to have received much feedback. Also beware sellers that have positive feedback for keychains, but that are now selling expensive electronics, for instance.
A pattern of troubling negative feedback should discourage you from buying from a seller, but you may want to consider also avoiding buying expensive items from sellers that lack sufficient positive feedback for selling. The more expensive the item, the more feedback you should need to see before committing to a purchase.

·8 months agoThe fake tracking scam is the greatest threat to the future of Ebay. They need to find a way to take action, it is less of a risk on other sites.
As a buyer, you should always pay via credit card, and if you see a delivered status and have not received the item, go directly to your card issuer and open a dispute. Do not let it slide, no matter how little the item cost.

Agreed. EBay still has not addressed the most frustrating scam for buyers. Boggles the mind.
I thought they eBay was supposed to be getting cozy with carriers to access the actual delivery addresses? I heard this here at some point last year.
I would bet money that sellers don't get away with that many times on AMZ before they are bounced.
I never see that complaint on a seller's feedback on AMZ.
