    P.S. a responsible seller would refund you any overage.

    A few weeks ago, or months, ebay experimented  with forcing buyers to provide a method of payment to charge the buyer for each accepted offer eliminating an option (for the seller) to combine shipping. Fortunately, there was an outcry and ebay abandoned this approach. Here is the text of their announcement from about 3 weeks ago:

    "As part of the ongoing work to reduce the number of unpaid items on eBay, we are evaluating these processes to ensure buyers are receiving appropriate and timely reminders. You may have noticed a recent change to the invoicing process. Based on your feedback, we are removing that recent change to invoicing so that Sellers can continue to send invoices as payment reminders. The automated payment reminders also will be sent at 24 & 48 hours after the listing ends."

    The "invoicing process" is what you are referring to. I have a lot of buyers sending me offers and after I accepted these offers they were immediately charged for the purchase, incl. postage. Now this is gone, and I can issue  combined invoices. There was a setting that ebay turned on, requiring immediate payment, that I had to turn off,  so if you plan to send multiple offers to a seller, you should let them now about this. (See attached jpg. This setting is under "buyer requirements")

    @martin2001

    Unfortunately, eBay has NOT abandoned this and continues to enroll MORE buyer IDs into the requirement to put up a payment source for auto-pay in order to bid.  They announced ALL buyer IDs were presently required to do this in order to make offers.

    UNLESS

    The seller changes the default preferences eBay put on all seller accounts to NO as your picture in message #2 depicts.   The both the forced enrollment of the buyer ID,  AND the retention of those preferences eBay placed on the seller with the default set to YES must be in effect for the new program to be effective.  Otherwise, it would be business as usual.

    The ability to send an invoice is unrelated to this problem.  And sellers are not required to refund any overages.

    What 'new program' are you referring to? I am just saying what I have experienced. Before that ebay announcement, after I accepted multiple offers from the same buyer, the buyer was charged immediately incl. postage for each item.  When I clicked on "send invoice" I received a message that the item was already paid for.

    Since about that ebay announcement,  I had several buyers with multiple offers, I accepted them, the buyers were  NOT charged anything, I issued an invoice, with combined postage for multiple items.

    Perhaps we are talking about two different things or I misunderstood the original post, I am just stating what takes place now when I receive multiple offers from buyers and what happens after I accept them.

    BTW, I did say a "responsible" buyer would refund....I did not say they have to. I always do.

    I would assume that "about that same time" you may have selected to change your preferences here from the default to YES eBay originally placed on your account.  If you change to select NO, then buyers will no longer be required to submit a payment choice in order to proceed, can select the payment method of their choice, and enjoy combined shipping from you.   You can send an invoice for the adjusted amount, and pay only .30 cents transaction fee for the combined order instead of the non-refundable .30 each for multiple items that were "auto billed" and all paid for individually the moment offers were accepted, or auctions ended.
