What Is Moreinfo?
Summary: denrawerewuoy discussed an issue with an eBay transaction where the seller's account was allegedly compromised. They received a suspicious email with instructions to handle the missing payment and sought advice. Other participants suggested filing an 'Item Not Received' claim if the item does not arrive by the estimated delivery date and recommended making all communications through eBay's platform. Some expressed concerns about the seller's 97% feedback rating, stating it is not ideal. denrawerewuoy later discovered the message from 'moreinfo' was also in their eBay messages, raising concerns about whether a refund would be denied due to the account compromise.
I bought a gallon of atf, seller had reasonable, price, and feedback (97%). The shipping est was to arrive today. I first got an email from seller through ebay that the item would ship soon. Then I got an email from moreinfo that the sellers account had been taken over by a third party and that I should take up my missing payment with my payment (paypal). The item still shows awaiting shipment, and my money is out of my bank account. How do I approach this situation?

OPJul 16, 2026 at 6:25 PMWell just to update after checking my replies here this morning I went to my messages in ebay and the moreinfo message is there. So is ebay going to deny my refund cause he was hacked? Paypal says payment made to ebay commerce.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 11:53 AMJust a heads up for you: 97% positive FB isn't great, it's not even good. Many of us use 98.6% as the gold standard for FB. Personally, I try to avoid any seller who has less than 100%.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 11:47 PMThat number should be very easy to remember ... normal human body temperature in degrees F. - if your body temperature varies from this by only a few points either way, you're dead. Pay attention to that number in life and feedback ratings as we all know a feedback rating lower than that is worse than being dead

You need to stop buying from Chinese sellers, especially for automotive related items.
"The item still shows awaiting shipment".
where was the fluid supposedly coming from? If there's a domestic shipping service's tracking number, the fluid may be coming from China, still if it does not arrive by its last estimated delivery date, file an Item Not Received dispute, using the More Actions button in your purchase history.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 5:00 AMIf this message was only in your email and not in your ebay messages, do NOT click on any links and don't respond to it.
If your item doesn't arrive by tomorrow, open a claim for non-receipt. Don't contact the seller and don't respond to email messages. Make all communications through the order.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 11:52 PMHow do I get the software that eBay uses to filter out scam emails on their 'messages' that show up in my inbox? I don't want to see them in either place.
Thanks.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 4:01 AMIF/WHEN the latest estimated date of delivery has already passed by at least 1 day, you have up to 30 days past estimated date of delivery to file a Refund Request:
Go to your My Ebay page >> Purchase history
· Select “More actions” beside your item and then “I didn't receive it.”
· Click the box beside I want a refund.
· Select Send request.
If the seller does not respond to the refund request, after 3 business days you can ask Ebay to step in to help you.
· Find the item in your Purchase History
· Select See request details
· Select “Ask eBay to step in.”
