what is eBay's position on bad faith sellers?
Summary: itapaquanitatuckahenry shared a negative experience with a seller who sent a different item than advertised and later discovered the original item listed at a higher price on another platform. They expressed frustration with the seller's honesty and eBay’s lack of intervention. Other participants suggested moving on, emphasizing that eBay would not likely take action against the seller, especially since the original purchase was resolved with a refund. itapaquanitatuckahenry noted the seller’s account similarities and mentioned that they had almost forgotten the incident until discovering the relisted item.
in spring i bought an unusual sweater. seller accepted my offer, sent invoice, i paid, package arrived just in time as it was a birthday gift - except that she sent a different cashmere which i didn't want, which wasn't even suitable as a gift. i went through ebay return etc. and was reimbursed. as i still would buy it, i asked her several times, before the refund, and afterward, if she had found the sweater. she said no.
imagine my surprise! she currently has the sweater listed on poshmark at 2.5 times the price i offered and she accepted. i think she realised she could get more and thought another cashmere would placate me.
this seller cannot be trusted, she has shown that. it is not that she mislaid it, or sent the sweater to someone else, in error. this is a case of a seller lying about the whereabouts of an item when she bluddy well had it all the time, listed on poshmark which i can't access because i am not in the u.s.
if i were operating ebay i would not allow a proven liar onto the platform. how do i call this to ebay's attention? so many links run into dead ends. i tried one of the links on the "your purchase" page but AI assessed it and dismissed it. i want an actual person to handle this.
any assistance is welcome.

·1 week agoYou do not need "an actual person to handle this". eBay isn't going to do anything, and they certainly aren't going to do anything as drastic as kicking someone off the site just because someone calls someone else a liar. For the thousands, if not millions, of times on here that someone is called a liar, it would be a monumental undertaking to try to even figure out who is lying and who isn't and nobody is going to do that.
Is the sweater still listed on Poshmark? If so, and the seller is the same seller you bought from (and there is the possibility it might be a different seller and even a different same sweater), that just might be an indication that she is mistaken in thinking she will get a higher price for the sweater and you can get satisfaction from the fact that she is being greedy and it isn't working out so well for her.

OP1 week agoi know ebay prob. won't do anything: they don't seem to reprimand sellers who flog chunks of manufactured corundum as genuine unheated etc rubies, or who conduct similar sorts of frauds.
but i want to point out that she has the same seller name (with slightly different number terminal), the same photos, and the same spelling error. the sweater is not likely to have a mate on ebay or elsewhere.

eBay has 18 million sellers selling more than 2 billion items on any given day. How do you think eBay should go about sorting out all the "chunks of manufactured corundum" and all the other things. Would you suggest that they read every one of the 2 billion listings to make sure the seller hasn't lied about anything? And how would they know?
"but i want to point out that she has the same seller name (with slightly different number terminal), the same photos, and the same spelling error. the sweater is not likely to have a mate on ebay or elsewhere."
You did not give that information in your earlier post so all we can do is "assume" or "guess" or "think maybe" or other possibilities about the sweater.
So, and again I am assuming, from what you said, that she still has the sweater listed after all these months. She got greedy and she's still sitting there looking at it. Happy her.

·1 week agoAside from the fact that you're making this post (and still stewing about it) 6 months after your purchase and return, you're concerned that sellers aren't sanctioned by ebay for "bad faith."
But in fact, the seller did have to accept a hit to their metrics as a result of your NAD (not as described) claim.
Do you really expect that there's something ebay can or would be willing to do to a seller on Poshmark? Even assuming it's the same seller (and I don't doubt that it is), the seller owns the item and has a right to raise the price.
You got the refund, seller got a ding and you need to let it go.

OP1 week agoin fact, i had almost forgotten about it when i searched for a related term and up it came. i don't have time to stew on it bc at the moment i'm working on an ic3 complaint involving another site.
