What if I purchase Authenticated shoes to later find they are fake?
This is my worry as I've read it happening multiple times, and Ebays policy seems to read that once they deem them authentic that's end of convo.
I accidentally buy counterfeit shoes and they slip through authentication
What's my recourse?

·3 years agoOne problem is how do you or anyone define "fake". With art, either the person who signed it made it or not. With those shoes, the company who put their name on them outsourced it to some factory or factories that were the lowest bidder. They did not make any of them. They might not all even from the same country. In the companies thought , they are "real" if the company gets money from their sale. If those same factories produce more and sell those themselves, keeping all the money, those are "fake".
No amount of inspection of the item could ever tell the difference.

·3 years agoWhen an item has gone through the authentication process it can only be returned if the seller accepts returns. It's an exception to eBay's standard Money Back Guarantee process.

OP3 years agoSo ebay has instated something called Final Sale.
Most pre owned fall under that, and it seems Ebay hired an outside company, so I'm thinking it's their way of finalizing sales they kind of lost control of, if that makes sense.
I should say I've used this platform for 10 years or more and bought n sold approx. 10k in that time.
Ebays customer service had Always been stellar.

·3 years agoIf the seller accepts returns, you can open a return case. But if the seller has a no returns policy eBay considers the sale to be final. Beyond that your only recourse would be your payment method.

OP3 years agoThat is unfortunately the same conclusion I came to.
So now ebay is forcing me to pay 15 dollars for the opportunity to get boned.
Bummer.
Always had excellent experience with them.

OP3 years agoThis is what I read, my wonder is what is EBAY doing to backup their Auth process besides using it as a "gotcha" moment to finalize a sale.
My experience with Ebay has always been good by the way.
They've always done me justice when I had issues.
And I don't move much, maybe a few thousand a year when im active.

·3 years agoIf you're so sure they're fake, resell them on Ebay. Get your money back.
If Ebay's "EXPERTS" authenticate them, they're real.
It really doesn't matter what you think.

·3 years agoThose "supposedly" fake shoes aren't in my "system" "champ".
They're something you have to worry about.
Ebay's playground. Ebay's rules. And what they say goes.
I have serious problems with their "authenticators". It was a good idea, but executed poorly.
We've already seen examples of buyers on here reporting ONE authentic shoe and one fake sold in pairs.
And when you're dealing with unscrupulous sellers turning 5 authentic pairs of high-end Nikes into 10 by doing this? And they were "authenticated by Ebay? You have to worry....
So you're left with 2 choices. You can amaze your friends by wearing them in pick-up basketball games (because you think they're worthless) and lose your investment, or you can re-sell them and recoup your money BECAUSE Ebay says they're the real deal.
Your choice "champ".

·3 years agoDiffences of opinion related to authenticity does sometimes exist between experts.
I suspect that the burden of proving that the item is a fake would be on the buyer.
