What does ebay do when a seller lies about why they won't send a card and cancels your winning bid?

I was the high bidder on a trading card. Immediately after the win, the seller messages me and says there is damage on the back of the card that wasn't disclosed or shown. They cancel the auction on "MY" request. Recently the very same serial numbered card was sold by a consignment seller with pictures of front and back with no damage present. Buyers are punished when they don't pay, what does ebay do to sellers that back out of a legally binding agreement?

Interesting that seller didn't send you a photo of the alleged damage & ask if you were still interested in owning the card

Depends on the seller and how much money they bring into eBay. That's just the truth of the matter.

If they canceled the order as buyer requested, you can report them for using the wrong reason to cancel.
