we got a problem on our hands with these chineese sellers lying about item location. im fully aware these people can say they are selling from usa as long as they have a warehouse here in the states. those are not the ones im talking about. just the other day i thought i was buying a large 14oz squishy butter stick from a seller in New York New York . Turns out it was coming from china. .....now I prob dont have to tell you how that went. lets just say the china person scammed me with a small 4oz butter stick and we faught tooth and nail and in the end Ebay had to step in and fix him. i try to not buy from those people but its becoming harder to weed them out because they are so good at scamming . id like to see Ebay ban their account if they catch them lying about item location. trust me Ebay doesnt got to worry they be back with another account . they are thick as thieves pouring out of a roach nest....But at least when they return they have had themselves an attitude adjustment. some thoughts about this situation because I am just not feeling safe on eBay any more. feel like I have to be suspicious about every purchase made.

·4 months agoThe seller is not necessarily in China.
Many US dropshippers put their own location where they should be putting the location of their Chinese supplier.
Whether they do this from malice or ignorance is the question.

·4 months agoI thought I ‘d give an update on my order of the large, ‘14 oz’ butter stick , which I received yesterday.
It measures 9” x 2.5” x 2.5” … and is definitely the larger size … BUT it has ‘4 oz.’ printed on it to make it look like an actual quarter-pound butter stick. I wonder if that might cause some buyers to think they were shipped the smaller size by mistake. 🤔
@jonbenet
What we’re the measurements of the butter stick you received?

·4 months agoThis has been complained about many of times daily here in this community. Ebay can only do so much. Before you make purchases make sure you check the sellers profile to see if the location is China. Yes in the listing the seller will put a US shipping location. As far as feeling safe Ebay has a moneyback guarantee. Use it if needed.

"This is the answer.... "Personal Responsibility"
If you had opened the link I provided and gone to my Best Answer in it, you would have seen that I wrote about checking seller's feedback profiles (personal responsibility) no matter what their feedback percentage.
As for Amazon, they did kick off several thousand China based sellers a few years ago. However, new ones have popped up, but since most shipping is done directly from Amazon they can access the label info and compare it to the checkout info.

·4 months agoPardon my ignorance, and I know it has nothing to do with your issue, but (for the geezers among us) what's a butter stick?
n0th*ng
·4 months agoIt's a squishy toy in a shape of butter

·4 months agoWho knew something like that would be popular? Developers are slaving and stewing for months to develop toys that will appeal to youngsters when all they had to do was look around their kitchens. Is there yet a soft squishy onion toy? How about a radish?

·4 months agoAny with feathers? After I toss it at my cat, she will want to play with it ... and she loves feathers.

·4 months agoI’ve seen many plush versions of almost every vegetable. Dunno about these foam squishy toys, but there’s so many things like that it’s very likely.

I didn’t know either, and I ended up searching for … and then buying … a 14 oz. one. LOL
Those squishy toys are great for ‘the geezers among us’. 😉 They relieve arthritis and CTS … as well as being perfect for lobbing at a cat in the process of being naughty! 😋
@jonbenet
I just bought one from a NY seller. Hope it isn’t the same one you did!

·4 months agoI also had no idea what it is. I had visions of finding out a recipe called for room temperature butter and ordering some on eBay.

" i try to not buy from those people but its becoming harder to weed them out because they are so good at scamming".
The China based sellers on ebay have been misrepresenting item locations and violating other policies for years. It can be hard to weed them out unless you know what to look for. If you open the link below and click on Go To Best Answer, you can find out how to weed them out. There are things most all of their listings have in common, that gives them away.

"Personal Responsibility"
You are responsible for vetting the sellers you buy from. If you aren't willing to do this, then just go buy from Amazon instead.
grann-4629
·4 months agoThere are definitely no foreign sellers on Amazon .... good call 🤓
