Hate autopay, hate "secure payment" by Ebay. I want to pay for item MANUALLY from Paypal page. Who is too "smart" that created that mess for buyers?

·1 month agoPayPal is no longer necessary for most of the users of the internet, and is likely to be acquired by a more useful company.
It complicates payment processing and creates the potential for more problems.
It would not surprise me if Ebay removes PayPal as a payment option. It is a 20th century relic in the 21st Century and failing fast.

·1 month agoActually, PayPal owns Venmo and continues to grow. PayPal can be used as a payment method just about anywhere from Home Depot to Google Play. Although no longer required as an eBay payment method, eBay would be foolish to remove it.

·1 month agoSorry, PayPal is on the ropes in spite of Venmo's success and is likely to be acquired for a fraction of their previous value.
There is plenty of speculation in the financial press.

·1 month agoUse buy-it-now to make your purchase and you should be able to choose your payment source at checkout.
If you use offers or auctions, then the seller determines whether a payment method needs to be specified in advance, which can complicate things if you want to use PayPal.

I don't know who "created" it but I know who "caused" it. The ever-increasing rash of deadbeat buyers. Sellers have precious little protection, but this is a pretty good one. Of course, it moves the fraudulent not as described return claims closer to the top.
When eBay rolled it out, they defaulted it effective for all. But a seller has the option to turn it off altogether at https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements or to exempt buyers individually at https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/ExemptBuyers .
