Watchlist AND Wishlist, PLEASE
As a fairly new ebay purchaser, I'm finding that having only a Watchlist to save items I'm interested in is incredibly frustrating and stressful. I frequently find things I love but am not ready to purchase, or would like to be able to prioritize. Unfortunately, marking them for my Watchlist causes a huge influx of offers into my email...wonderful offers...offers that when I'm ready to make a purchase I would love to have available to me. Also unfortunate is that I feel compelled to thank each seller for the offer and explain why I'm not accepting their wonderful offer, which can get really time consuming, lol!
Perhaps the addition of a WISHLIST that is adjustable (like on Amazon) would help buyers shop, dream and purchase when ready. It would also help sellers not be bombarded with making offers that are ignored???

·1 year agoSoooo frustrating that eBay took away my automatic subcategories for my watchlist. I never had to do anything but save to the watchlist then when I opened the watchlist the items were all together then if I wanted to see them in their subcategories all I had to do was click on the subcategory I.e. “DOLLS†and there were all the dolls I saved.
Now I have to go through this frustrating process of creating a subcategory and clicking the items to add then after the headache is over and the items should be listed under the subcategory well they are not and nothing is showing. Why can I create a subcategory and choose the items to add but they are not being saved. How do I get them saved? It’s impossible or a hacker is having FUN! And that’s nothing new after 15 years off gaslighting.
What a huge inconvenience caused by the backward thinking of a website support overhaul.

Try viewing your Watch List items on your Summary page, where the categories are still shown.

·1 year agoI think I have been able to create individual "custom lists" from the Watchlist, and add several items to the former. But how later to get to see and access the custom lists is a mystery. I hope someone can help.

The first reply by the Gnome is spot on. However, it did not address one thing you mentioned in your post:

If the items you are adding to your watch list come from the listings that appear on an item listing you already have open, those are Promoted Listings, that automatically cause offers to be sent IF you open them. It is not saving them that causes offers to be sent, it is viewing those listings.
What you can do to not receive offers until you are ready, is to save the item that has promoted listings you may be interested in. Then when you are ready or able to buy, open the saved listing then click on the promoted offers to generate the Special offers, with discounts.
The only drawback to doing that is the promoted items may be sold out by the time you open the original listing, but there will probably be others in its place.

Something you may not be aware of as an occasional buyer, is that not every seller who has Best Offer on their listings wants to receive them. Many sellers use ebay's quick listing tool, which includes Best Offer on all listings, whether or not he seller wants to receive them. Before making an offer use the see other items button on a listing, if all of the items in the seller's list have Best Offer, they may not actually want them. Some of those sellers may use the auto accept/decline feature. They set it to automatically decline offers more than a few cents less than the asking price.
Offers may be ignored if the first one is too low. A seller may look at an offer and decide you and they are too far apart, to want to haggle over the price, so they will ignore them, rather than waste time on it.

·3 years agoI would add that most of the offers you receive when you add an item to your watchlist are auto-generated by eBay because sellers have chosen to promote their listings in that manner. They go to many people, so there is absolutely no need to respond to them except by going to the item and purchasing if so inclined.

eBay once had "wish list", but it seems that it resulted in "spamming" by sellers ................... even with unrelated items.

·3 years agoGo to My eBay: Watchlist and click the title "Watchlist v". (The "v" is an arrow pointing down to indicate there is a dropdown menu when you click.) Other lists are there and an option to create new ones.
On the Listing Page for the item click the button to "Add to list v" and your lists are there for you to select which to add the item to (as well as one to set up a new list and add the item to it).
