WASTE OF MY TIME & MONEY - eBay Claim Appeal - AI closed
Summary: time-2-sell_collectables shared their frustration with eBay's handling of a refund claim after receiving the wrong item and facing difficulties with a seller, who suggested requesting a refund from eBay. After eBay's AI closed the appeal without resolving it, time-2-sell_collectables criticized the system's inefficiency. msha3839 recommended filing a claim for 'Item Not As Described' without communicating with the seller, while mudshark61369 pointed out time frame inconsistencies and suggested acting faster in such cases. janet9988 noted that an item not as described claim should have been filed immediately on August 27th. The discussion highlights challenges with claim processes and seller interactions on eBay.
When you purchase Items on eBay they have a "30 Day money back guarantee" ... Sometimes.
Step 1: Contact SELLLER to resolve issue
I Purchased Item and seller shipped wrong item ... So I contacted Seller and agreed to send a Free replacement.
They sent a tracking number ... but replacement was received.
Recontacted Seller and they said it was Delivered ... September 25 and I should check my Post Office.
Went back to tracking number and the Link no longer works.
Again contacted Seller who said "You can request the refund from ebay."
Here is where "AI" and eBay Customer Service - Waste of Time & Money
Contacted eBay Customer Service and waited for callback ...
Agent reviewed message traffic and "SAID" they opened a CLAIM ... refund request sent to seller
Refund was denied buy seller ... tracking shows delivered ... Over 30 days (Of course it was over 30-days on original tracking number)
Submitted Following Claim Appeal:
This Seller is clearly violating eBay's Drop Shipping and Product Sourcing Policy: “They are responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame you stated in your listing and for the buyer's overall satisfaction with their purchase." Please review Buyer-Seller messages: Aug 13, 2026... Order date: Aug 27.... Buyer - Seller messages started .... Item received was not what was ordered. Aug 28... Seller requested photo and one was provided using eBay message ... Seller agreed wrong item received and would send resend a correct Item. Aug 31... Buyer had to ask seller if if replacement item was sent ... Seller provided a tracking # link .... Item had to be shipped from China Oct 2... Buyer Contacted seller again because no replacement was received ... Sellers response replacement was it was delivered Sep 25. ... Wanted me to check Post Office ... Told him mail is delivered to home. The final communication from Seller was "You can request the refund from eBay."
IMMEDIATELY after clicking submit ... I received "After reviewing this case, we decided that we won't be able to change the outcome."
Now I can not get any callback on this Item from eBay Customer Service.
Who reviewed this appeal? .... Had to be "AI"

·1 week agoA little surprised that a seller took advantage of a seller.
Although this seller shows eBay ID in USA in feedbacks. which you purchased the item...item is coming from China.
Why eBay allows a seller to show they are a eBay ID in the USA but actually in China...what's the point of even showing where the eBay seller states which country it is?

·1 week agoAugust 27th is the date you should have opened up and item not as described claim and the seller would have been required to send you a shipping label for a return for a full refund. YOU choose another path.

"Order date: Aug 27.... Buyer - Seller messages started .... Item received was not what was ordered. Aug 28... Seller requested photo and one was provided using eBay message ... Seller agreed wrong item received and would send resend a correct Item. Aug 31..."
You wasted a lot of time dealing with the seller who was probably China based and who often promise to send replacements but never do.
The dates you posted do not make sense, starting August 13, Order date August 27, wrong Item received August 28. "August 31, Buyer had to ask seller if if replacement item was sent ... Seller provided a tracking # link". Did you mean September 31? Item had to be shipped from China Oct 2... Was 10/02 the tracking #s for the replacements estimated delivery date? Didn't you realize that it was past the 30 day time frame for Appealing, when you saw that and to ask ebay to step in?
You have made enough purchases and sales on this site, to know how ebay's Money Back Guarantee works and its time frames. You let the seller talk you past the the time for asking ebay to step in, and apparently did not check the tracking information showing that a delivered scan had been issued on Sept. 25th. But expect ebay's customer service to give you a refund. eBay's Money Back Guarantee works but you have to pay attention to its time frames for taking actions.

OP1 week agoShould not matter how many sales or purchases I have Made ... it is Proof EBAY AI does not look at Human Actions and EBAY really does not care either way ... they just want $$$.
