was sold a counterfeit item. need help.
Hello, I was sold a counterfeit book. The book arrived with no copyright details, and a fake cover manually photocopied and pasted on. The seams don't match and there are huge ink smears. I contacted the seller immediately asking for a full refund and posted pictures of the book. The seller wants me to return the book to a different country at my own expense and will reimburse me later. I am not comfortable with this. I have searched everywhere and see no button for "ask Ebay to step in and help". I also don't see a way to speak to a live Ebay agent. What should I do? Thanks for any help.

And I say this as a seller.

·2 years agoFollow the advice you've been given by these very knowledgeable members. And DO NOT engage any further with the seller. There's no need to contact ebay at this point, the system is all AI these days.
Make sure everything you do from this point on is done as per ebay instructions. If you interact with the seller, they will probably try and string you along with all kinds nonsense in hopes of running out the clock on your case. DON'T DO IT.

Do not email to seller anymore. Best not to respond to their emails.
Let eBay do their return process.

·2 years agoGo to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.

·2 years agoAs noted in the other posts, you need to claim that the item is not as described; then if the seller wants the item back they will have to pay for the return shipping. Here's a link to eBay's buyer protection policy, which they call the "Money Back Guarantee":

·2 years agoDid you file a return request? Did you choose the reason "doesn't match description or photos"? Did you choose a different reason? How many days ago did you open the return request?
We need those details to advise next steps @carpenj13 .

·2 years agoYou first need to file an item not as described case. Find the item under purchases and click the return this item button. Choose not as described for the reason.
