Upset! Tried 2 buy item online EBay use credit card. Rejected. Called card why? told 2 cancel card
Wasn’t paying attention completely so I allowed my eBay used bank credit card to be deleted asap.
Credit card company woman said it would be safest thing as for no reason my card wasn’t suddenly acceptable. Gave company with item complete card number info…Maybe was scam company?
Now have to go through big deal tomorrow going to bank and getting another credit card and attaching it up seamlessly again with my eBay selling account.
Any pitfalls that I should now be aware of?

·1 year agoI wonder if there was a foreign country involved somehow? I once had my card rejected because the company was not in the U.S. It was a legit company and I really wanted the item. I think I had to end up going through Paypal to buy since my CC would not okay the transaction directly.

Was your card from American Express? eBay doesn't allow them anymore and the card would be rejected.

OP1 year agoMy credit card was not expired and had plenty of money backing it.
i believe there must have been something quite crooked about the deal involved on the other side,
the medical item that I wanted to buy,
so I was being protected by my card not getting charged. Who knows? It’s screwed up!
I was convinced to cancel my good credit card because this other party got my credit card number,
expiration date + back security code along with my filing out my home address, email and phone number…
Something doesn’t make sense + I’m very annoyed that I have to deal with it first thing in the morning tomorrow when I go to my bank and get another different credit card number…

·1 year agoI don't know how seller got your information........Here's how I have my Ebay account set up for payments.
I set up a savings account separate from any other account and linked it to PayPal to pay on Ebay or other online transactions that accept PayPal. The only money at risk is what's in that account. If the savings account runs low or I need more in it, I just call the banks automated contact number and transfer money over from checking.
Not perfect but my credit card information or checking account information isn't stored on PayPal or Ebay.
If doing a general online search I look for sites that accept PayPal. If I can't find one selling what I want then reluctantly use my card. At least it cuts down on the number of times my card information is out there and gives me some peace of mind.

·1 year agoWhen calling your credit card company, always use the phone number on the back of the card or your statement.

·1 year agoHow did you give that company your card information?
If it was through Ebay check out, seller doesn't get that information.

·1 year agoMaybe credit card was expired and had to be updated on eBay.
I always look at the date of when my credit cards expire and wait until new ones come in the mail.
