I'm a little confused. I made an offer on a car that has a clear title but also says unspecified. I paid for the car report through experian but after paying for the service it says it still wants more money. Huh? So, is this some sort of scam? It's a Subaru out of Florida. Any ideas folks?

I'm lost as to why you want to buy a vehicle that you can not inspect - did you hire someone local to inspect it and the title? or are you planning on going to Florida and inspecting it yourself?
Who is shipping the vehicle if you are not going to got look at it in person BEFORE paying.
Did the seller state free shipping - no legitimate seller offers that.
Did the seller state an inspection period - no legitimate seller offers that.
Did the seller state free returns if not happy - no legitimate seller offers that.
Was this on another site and the seller mentioned eBay will take care of all the details - It does not work that way, eBay does not handle vehicles sold on other sites.
Was it the bargain of the century - best price you have ever seen - no legitimate seller sells a vehicle for less than the wholesale price a Car Dealer would pay.
Need more details to determine anything.

OP3 weeks agoI have purchased a couple of vehicles from out of state. I believe the shipping quote I received was from Montway. When buying used stuff, especially vehicles, there is ALWAYS something needing attention. This is reflected in my bid. Yes, I have traveled to inspect a vehicle. It always makes me laugh when I see the phrase, "you are entering into a legally binding contract. Do not bid unless you intend to purchase." I have had a boatload of sellers cancel or try to re negotiate after they have accepted my offer. One seller accepted an offer of $1,000. I had a buddy drive me to the next state over to make the transaction. He was anticipating $10,000. This has occurred more than once. On this car, I asked the seller if they meant to accept my low offer. I received no response. It was then that I found the "unspecified" on the listing which I swear wasn't there before. Getting old I guess. I had an auction seller change the description AFTER the bid was accepted. Been doing this a while and I'm still learning something new. I have the listing number on my screenshot but suspect the issue is taken care of. Auction removed. I used an escrow service for another vehicle I purchased in another state. It took way too long for them to transfer the money to the seller. Never use them again. Ebay recommended them. They also recommended Experian. That didn't work out either.

·3 weeks agoIt's refreshing to actually hear of a buyer who has experience purchasing vehicles on eBay Motors - most that come to the boards do not, and usually discover that the vehicle doesn't exist. Good luck with all of your eBay purchases.

Did the seller say the car is being sold as a consequence of some sort of emergency
• belonged to my deceased son and the sight of it brings back memories
• my medical unit is being shipped out to Afghanistan and I have to sell it fast
• received the car in a divorce settlement and have no use for a second car

First of all, is this a vehicle which you originally found on eBay -- or is it a vehicle which you found on Facebook Marketplace (or Craig's List, or some other site), which then "claimed" that the transaction would be "completed" on eBay?
If you found this vehicle anywhere by eBay, it is a fraud.
So where did you actually find this vehicle?

·3 weeks agoUse Carfax under no circumstances use Autocheck/Experian for this stuff. Their reports are so vague and not worth the money
