Unable to contact seller for dimensions and other product info, eBay wonâ€™t let me, what gives? | Buying

Several times in the last month Iâ€™ve wanted to ask seller for product details not provided, such as dimensions of a handbag, whether there are inside pockets, etc. When I click the usual â€œcontact sellerâ€ I get a written lecture about not buying directly, which I would never do for a million reasons. Why am I being punished and why are they keeping me from a product I may want to buy if it fits my parameters? And why are sellers providing so little info? I shouldnâ€™t have to ask something as basic as dimensions, and yes, I am looking in both places that provide product details. Please help.
