My son just finished digging a huge pond in his yard, and he is stocking it with turtles. I will point one of the babies in your direction - by the time he gets there, he should be around 40 pounds.
Do you have a flower bed? We have Larry, a North Carolina box turtle. He lives in our front flower bed all year round. There is a 3 ft brick wall which keeps him from traveling outside the flower bed which is about 4 ft x 18 ft. He has a sunken pond for recreational purposes. In the fall in NE Ohio, about now, he digs himself into the ground and we fill the flower bed with leaves. He surfaces in the spring, but also, if we have a few warm days in early spring, he sometimes surfaces. He likes being hand fed various fruits and veggies, strawberries being favorites. We have had him about 15 years. The little children who visit here like to see him. His name is Larry. (I suggested Curly, but, unfortunately, was outvoted).
PS: For those of you who believe he should be released into the wild, be assured, his habitat is pretty much the same as it would be out in the forest. He was rescued from making a treacherous crossing on Interstate 77.
If you collect turtles and turtle-themed items, eBay is a good place to buy them. I am going to assume you do not know how to use the search box. All you have to do is put "turtles" in the search box and it will bring up thousands and thousands of all kinds of turtle listings. Then you can narrow down your search by category such as collectibles, books, jewelry, or others. Or you can get more specific with the search box if you put "turtle figurine" or "turtle necklace" or whatever you are looking for.
I don't know if you are on a phone or computer so I can't tell you exactly where to look. For example, if you are on a computer and you put "turtles" in the search box, the categories will be over on the left of your screen. You will just have to experiment with search and I'm sure you will find more turtles than you ever dreamed of, in any price range you want.
